Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Welcome "Play4Fun" of Indonesia.

I am a senior citizen in Singapore and read your input on starting golf with some dissatisfaction.

Everyone needed to learn the basics from a PGA Pro.

You must have patience, especially in learning and adopting a proper swing in a driving range.

Once the Pro finds your result worthy - he can accompany you on course for the real play and issue you proficiency certificate if you qualify the minimum standard. One should not short cut the process.

The important benefit during training is to absorb the principles of golf.

Swing routine and why ball tend to fade/slice, hook, duff and top.

Also the etiquette player must adopt during the game.

It is not just how you play but care to other players around you and opposite you.

Once you develop and improve on your game, you will definitely enjoy golf.

So choose a proper teaching Pro and Train patiently. You will find enjoyment soon.

Thank you all for your reply ! I had the coaches each for 3 months and my latest current coach for over 2 years . My current coach have abeastly swing and my eyes popped out when he was at the trackman, his driver is 115 mph on the dot for 20 swings with almost exact numbers, almost similar flight with maximum smash factor 1.49, he was wearing a pair of slipper FYI ! However, I admit I am a poor student of golf and I feel I had the wrong attitude. The thread in TST about pro golfer being a monkey enlightened me , another problem I had is about practice, I had been trying to swing too fast for a swing change , being not having enough time for practice , its detrimental to learning. Though one thing that really surprised me though , when i looked at my video with my pro recently .. I am flipping bad with what you called a Punch elbow ! while most of the pro's student don't have such problems. Although I am swinging in to out path, I ended up with a duck hook and high push, the worst problem is totally no control over my low point . I am flabbergasted. After viewing through the forum practice sites in TST , I realised the many pieces of my swing that I had misunderstood, some of which are what my coach trying to get me do but i misunderstood or don't have enough information. I guess I am one of those smart Alex:(. I realized again golf is so hard! Well, I am taking time off from playing, bought a indoor Net and correcting all my problems , hopefully there is some progress.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
