Quote:
Ko claimed the richest payday ever in women’s golf at the LPGA’s 2014 season finale back in November, winning the $1 million jackpot as the season-long CME points champion and the $500,000 first-place check as the CME Group Tour Championship winner. With a wild back nine Friday at Golden Ocala, Ko is now in position to win the LPGA’s 2015 season opener.

If Ko wins Saturday, she’ll vault to the top of the Rolex Women’s World Rankings, becoming the youngest No. 1 in the history of men’s or women’s professional golf. Ko can also take the No. 1 ranking with a solo second-place finish, as long as current No. 1 Inbee Park finishes in a three-way tie for third or worse.

A close buddy of mine is the walking scorer for her, Jang, and Choi today. He's pretty pumped. If you're watching, look for the short, Gallagher-looking guy..... :-)

Yeah, a fantastic result for a very classy young woman. Kiwi golf fans haven't had much to cheer about since Michael Campbell's win in the 2005 US Open, but this young lady is making us very proud.

True that. Sort of forgot about him as he is yet to translate his amateur career into the professional ranks.

She achieved #1 in the world. At 17 years old, she is the youngest ever.

... and by far.    The record is going to stay for a long time.

I don't know. Probably. But women's golf has a way of surprising us with what the young ones can accomplish and how early they can do so. Still... this isn't just winning a tournament or making a cut or a top-10 in a major... this is #1 ranking.

Lydia is currently -1 in today's round with 8 holes to play. If she stays under par she will have the LPGA record of 30 consecutive rounds under par.

Unreal. She's currently tied at 29 consecutive rounds w/ Annika Sorenstam.

And she bogeys the 18th, ends up +1 for the round. There goes the record.

Still made the cut, though.

Ahhhh too bad. Well, I'm a huge Annika fan anyway so this is ok. :P

Lydia has plenty of time to break it.

I like Annika too, just was really hoping Lydia would pull it off today. Oh well......

More than the record, I want to see her win a major this year.

She has plenty of time to break that record lol.

The fact that she is my age and doing that is insane. I am still trying to be a 85 player consistently!
