Bridgestone J715 460 Driver Utilizes Cutting-Edge Technologies to Deliver Optimal Spin and Launch Performance

The increased distance and accuracy that the J715 Driver delivers is achieved through 4 key technologies:

F.A.S.T Crown

The Flex Action Speed Technology (F.A.S.T.) crown is extremely thin near the clubface and progressively thickens towards the club head rear to enable the crown to slightly flex at impact creating higher launch and increased repulsion.

Power Milled Face

Patented face milling pattern works to reduce the common ball slippage at impact problem that drivers today encounter. Maintaining the ball's position of impact leads to increased quality compression time that results in reduced spin (200-300 RPMs based on robot testing) for straighter and longer drives.

Spin Flight Control Technology

Movable weights on multiple axes in the heel and center of the clubhead allow users to customize the center of gravity for desired spin and trajectory.

Variable Adjust System

J715 is completely Face and Lie angle adjustable, offering face angle adjustments of up to 1° (closed and opened) and lie angle settings of standard, 1° upright and 2° upright.

What I am interested in is the milled, yes milled clubface for a driver. Basically the theory is that the ball slips up the clubface with the driver causing it to add spin. The milled clubface grips the ball and keeps it from slipping up the clubface allowing it to now as spin as much.

I can see how that can happen because a driver doesn't engage the cover compared to the core because of how hard the strike is. This is why the cover is the most important aspect for producing spin on wedge shots, and why premium golf balls use Urethane covers.

I just find it interesting that wedges have introduced milled clubfaces to add spin. Either through adding more roughness, but more so to give more surface area for grass and water to collect allowing the ball to interact with the clubface unimpeded. Yet the strike might be so quick on a driver that it might just actually reduce spin compared to adding spin.

They do claim 200-300 rpm less spin. To me that means the robot testing, under ideal and repeatable conditions (aka, not able to be done human golfer) they actually got a 200-300 rpm reduction.

Depending on the the overall performance and price, I think Bridgestone has set themselves apart in thinking outside the box with this driver.

That is strange. I have never heard of this ball slippage issue with the driver. I would think a positive AoA would make it quite difficult for something like that to happen. I would certainly like to know the AoA they set the robot at if they used robot testing.

Bought one the other day off of ebay.  Great club, low spin bomber, very nice cosmetics, nice set up, deep face, great feel, very forgiving.  Way less spin on misshits compared to my other 2 drivers, 9.5 Callaway FT tour 430, Diamana Red Board 73g stiff, Bridgestone J33P 8.5, 380cc, Voodoo 60g stiff
