This is my impulse purchase of the day!!!!

http://www.callawaygolf.com/golf-clubs/fwoods-2015-big-bertha-alpha-815.html

A point and click purchase............LOL

I am a strong proponent of club testing in front of a launch monitor before buying clubs.   I broke that rule for the first time in 15+ years last summer when I bought a TM-SDLR blind, and this proved to be an epic fail.   I bought this club from Edwin Watts online knowing I could return it to a local store if I didn't like it.   I didn't like it.............and I returned it!!   They have pro-style launch monitors where I did club testing and I settled on a Big Bertha Alpha driver..............I LOVE IT!!!!

My thoughts.......I love the BB Alpha driver and the 3-wood comes with the same Fujikara shaft, so I should be OK with the 3-wood? Only time will tell!!!

Here's the deal...I'm a lefty and it's a pain in the ass to test the clubs because I always come in with the intent to test a very specific stick.......and it's too common when they don't have the lefty version with the correct shaft I want to test............anyway...just venting!!  This is why I bought online.....

I'm looking forward to the new club!!   It will be replacing a Callaway FT 3-wood that has served me well, but it's getting long in the tooth and it's time for a replacement. The FT3-wood is the oldest club in my bag........I'm guessing at least 7 years.

I canceled my order with Dicks.............

Instead:  I ordered directly from Callaway online.  WHY?   Many more options...... shafts, grips..etc, etc...  not only could you choose between a myriad of grips, but many shafts and lengths through the Callaway site.

My reason......The stock 3-wood shaft at dicks is 42.8"......... I wanted a 43.5" shaft.   It's the same brand/model.....albeit 1/2 inch longer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh yes.....the BB Alpha815 3-wood has arrived!

Of course the weather is horrible and my next round of golf is nowhere in sight!!     This should go well with the Big Bertha Alpha driver that was added to my bag at the end of last year.  I'm looking forward to playing!!
