O’Toole Jr. and executive director Mike Davis showed up to announce the association’s new national championship, the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, to be contested annually starting in 2018.

It’s all part of inclusiveness, an effort on the part of the USGA to steward the future of the game. In an era of concern about golf’s future, the USGA is undertaking a wide-based approach to making sure that the game is sustainable culturally, economically and ecologically.

I'll watch the LPGA before I watch the Champions tour, and I'll watch the Champions tour before I watch any kind of women's senior open.

Only notable 50+ women golfers that come to my mind are Laura Davies, Nancy Lopez (who is retired), Dottie Pepper (49), Meg Mallon and Juli Inkster. Annika is 44.
