Hey guys

I've had a few lessons down my local club, and having massively enjoyed them I can already see myself playing golf more regularly!

I'm starting to consider clubs to purchase early, so when the time comes to pull the trigger I have a solid set in mind.

Second hand clubs are my preferred route due to budget. What brands would you guys point me towards with regards to a budget of ~£100-140 for clubs + bag?

Having checked out iron sets I've come across Wilson deep reds and fat shafts at a reasonable price (£40-£55)  but I'm not entirely sure whether these are good

for my beginner level.

I appreciate any advice, and thanks for reading.

Matt

Ping would be a good choice for a new player.  You can pick up G15 or G20 irons for a lot less money than new G30s.  I got a set of G15 irons for my godson as his first set.  They are easy to hit and also have decent resale value.

I personally wouldn't get the Wilsons.  The Fat Shaft idea is a gimmick.  I would recommend a used set of Mizuno MX-900's (forged GI irons).  I have the MX-900 4-iron and 5-iron to complement my JPX-800 Pro 6-GW, and they are very user friendly!  I like Titleist AP1's also, but never owned a set (rented them on vacation last summer).
