I'm lost, what's the deal with these Super Stroke Grips...

I have been toying with putting a Super Stroke 3.0 Or 5.0 on my new putter... here's my questions, are they worth it, are they going to take my wrists out of my putting stroke, Am I going to pull what's left of my hair out after dropping $30 on a putter grip... Any thoughts would be appreciated...

I use the 3.0 and NO it is not worth it. I liked the 1.0 better. The feel of the grip is terrific in my opinion. The price is not worth it to me at least. I find distance is the biggest issue for me.

I like Superstroke grips. I used a 2.0 for most of last year. Found I have less forearm tension compared to a Winn grip, for me it led to better speed control.

I got the biggest Winn grip and I'm getting amazing results.  (I tend to have too much motion at contact and a big ol' mallet putter).  the big grip is just one of the changes, I've also changed my grip over and over again to ones that minimize wrist twist.  I'd like to go to a half mallet too, but I'm doing really well now with what I'm doing and a good putter is too much.

Grips and grip and putters are very mental and very individual specific.  Asking "what's the deal with" any part of putting is no substitute for just getting fit at least, or fit and coached, or even just experimenting on your own.  IMHO

Well, I understand... I should figure it out myself... but I was just wondering why they are so good...

I like them, but it really depends on the putter, I think. I've liked them on putters at the golf store, but I don't think they'd work well on my putter, which has built in forward press (Odyssey Backstryke 2 Ball).

I can't speak to the mechanics. I can tell you that I installed the Superstroke 2.0 about 4 months ago and really liked the grip. My distance control on longer putts was about the same as it ever was (mediocre), but my make percentage on putts inside of 10 feet was noticeably better.

My bag was stolen a week ago and regardless of what putter I decide to purchase, I will probably pony up the extra $30 and have it re-gripped with a Super Stroke.

I put the 3.0 on my putter late last fall.  I played 4 rounds with it in Florida in January.  I liked it a lot.  I think it also helps you have a consistent grip pressure.  I have always used mid-size pistol grips. I noticed that sometimes my grip would change slightly and I would have to reeducate my hands.  With the larger grip, I find it easier to be repeatable.  I also had no issue with distance control.

I will be writing a review, but I want to get a few more rounds in.

I have super stroke on my one putter and normal grip on the other...but will be replacing it shortly. I find the super stroke takes my hands out of the putt and seems to lead to a more stable smooth stroke...Maybe it is in my head, hell half of putting is, but there is no doubt it has helped me.

I use a normal mid-size and haven't made the switch yet.  A buddy of mine, probably the best putter I know, switched to a 2.0 last year and loves it.  I honestly can't tell any difference in his putting (thank God, I already lose enough money to him!), but he says he likes the feel better.

Super Stroke 3 here. As mentioned, I found that for looooooong putts, there wasn't THAT much difference. There is too much "feel" involved. I noticed the difference right away in those putts inside 10 feet. At first it was annoying because putts that I might have missed by 4-6 inches were now rimming the edge or lipping out. Even more of a difference for those 3-4 footers. Larger grip made a more relaxed feeling in the forearms and less of a death grip on the grip itself. Led to a smoother stroke and more putts made- Which means less three putts.

I tried a bunch of putters out at the store the other day with these and I really like them. I think they definitely helped with my distance control. I liked it so much, I almost walked out with a new putter. I might consider putting one of these on my current putter, but I'm hoping to get fit for an Edel this year.

Take this experience for what it's worth:  My hand is a perfect medium for a golf glove.  Last season, I put a 3:0 superstroke grip on my putter.  I can't count the number of 3-5' putts I pushed to the right and MISSED last season.  Don't get me wrong, I really LIKE the grip, size and feel but it's definitely harder to rotate the putter head through the hitting area with the larger grips.

I'm taking my putter this week to have the 3.0 replaced with a 2.0.  Guess my hands aren't large enough for the 3.0.  And just so you know about those 3-5' putts--I expect to make 80+% of them on a bad day so it can't be my putting! ;-)

I think it depends on your stroke.  The fatter versions I think are good for those who swing straight back/straight through.  If you are an arc putter, then I think you need a midsize or standard.  Anyway, their website walks you through their fitting.  But it recommended Flatso Mid for me, but when I went to the store, I bought the full size Flatso instead (felt better in my hands).

Disagree.  I do not have a straight back/through stroke at all.  In fact, I think this grip helps the arc stroke because it removes any twisting the hands may cause with too small a grip.  A real SBST stroke requires manipulating the head during the backstroke and downstroke to have the face pointed at the target line at all times.  That is very hard to do.

that's what I'm hoping for.  It seems to be working very well with my fatty grip.

      Is This Club Blatantly Sandbagging?

      I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
