Does anyone have any experience at heading to Ireland on a solo golf trip? I was thinking about heading over for around two weeks in late August/early September to travel around the small towns to golf and see the country.

I know that major golfing destination in southwest Ireland but has anyone has been to North West Ireland and has play the tops course in the area like Enniscrone, Ballyliffin, County Sligo and Rosapenna?

Any thoughts on going solo to Ireland and what area I should visit would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum @fore

I have not been, but below is a great book, A Course Called Ireland by Tom Coyne.  He traveled the entire coastline and played many courses.  It is an excellent read too.  I highly recommend it.

There are other posters who have made the trip too.  The thread below had a lot of discussion.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum. I'm going to Ireland in June and while it's not a golf trip I will be playing Ballybunion. The thread bogie referenced is the one I started for my trip and there's some really good recommendations there.

@fore.  R u carr ying your own clubs, will rent at each course or travel with one rented set, or other option?

I too considering same kind of trip but the clubs seems a  huge burden and expense.  My route:  Bangkok, Ireland, USA, Bangkok.
