Hello, I took up golf a little less than two years ago and have gotten very serious about my game. I was wondering if this flat swing can help me get down to scratch or if I need to start fixing it now into a more upright swing. This is a video of me hitting my 6iron, which I hit 175-185 with good loft. My shot tended to go straight then fade off. This video was taken last week when I was attacking the back off the ball, I received help from my buddy and have spent this last week working on attacking the back-inside of the ball (swinging towards right field) and it's resulted in my balls going straight and adding distance. I've just heard flat swings are bad.

Hi, if you put the video on your youtube account you can paste the link to here. I think there is a thread somewhere, search for "uploading video" in the forums.

I took up golf about two years ago and was wondering if my swing is too flat. This is a video of my 6 iron, which I normally hit 175-185. My ball flight is generally straight. I'll have it fade or draw a couple yards every now and then. I was wondering if this swing can get me to scratch eventually or if it is too flat. (If someone could help me with uploading a video from my iPhone slow mo camera that would be awesome. I can't figure out how to get it on here from my phone)

Hi, if you put the video on your youtube account you can paste the link to here. I think there is a thread somewhere, search for "uploading video" in the forums.

To upload a video to youtube, go to the youtube page.  If you have a gmail account, sign in.  If not, you can create one at no charge.

There is a upload button on the top right of the screen.  Push it.

You will come to a screen to upload your video.  You can select, Public, unlisted and Private.  Don't select private. I usually do unlisted.  Private videos will not show up.

Push the arrow and select the video you want to upload.  Wait for the complete upload to happen.  Youtube will take you to the video.

Click on the video and select "copy video URL".

Got to your My Swing thread and click the little film icon on the tool bar.  It is in between the picture and table icon.

Paste the video url and hit enter.

When you submit, the video will be in the post.

Please describe what your are doing in the video, whether it is a drill or full swing and what club you are using.  I really helps if you tell us what your issue is like, "hitting it fat", "slide or hook." etc.  The instructors and good players on this forum can really help you.  Also, other members like me who are mid HC may have had the same issue and worked through it with help.  We will describe what worked for us.  For me, I use Evolvr and my instructors have given me drills to work through the problem.

Best of luck.

I renamed this thread. If you meant for your username to be "JRowdy" instead of "JRowy" please let me know.  We can rename it as "JRowdy" is available.

    • Just want to share a quick update with everyone. I went to the range the week before last, even though I took it easy no significant pain occurred just a slight twinge when I swung my #4 hybrid. The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning. However I think switching back to graphite shafts is definitely gonna happen, my mp15's were fitted with X shafts and having something lighter will help.
