http://edelgolf.com/edel-torque-balanced-putters Sounds amazing, I want one! Will you guys get a fitting system for this in Erie @iacas?

Yes. That's the current plan. I can add more later but I wanted to respond now.

Okay, here's the "more."

The fitting kit is three heads and three hosels. They're the most popular hosels and heads - something like 90% of golfers can fit into them. Combine the fact that you can change the lines on the top in various combinations, and that number should bump up slightly.

Loft never had a BIG effect on aim, so they're all going to be the same loft. You can of course order different lofts if players routinely add loft to the putter via their stroke or take too much loft off.

Also, the idea is basically that the putters are perfectly balanced - they not only have no toe hang or heel hang, but they don't twist when taken back on a proper plane, either.

Now, I don't know how important that last part is. It's the selling point of the Torque-Balanced putter series, but… we've seen plenty of great putters with Bullseyes and 8802s and so on. But, well, it's what they're doing now.

We'll get ours in sometime in the next month or so. We may be able to fit you March 25/26. We might also just miss this timeline… the next time we get something on schedule will be the first time. :)

Would you consider using this putter over your custom Edelman?

@iacas will you still fit for the classic series putters? I ask because I am planning to see a semi-local fitter in April, and he fits for the classic series. Am I missing out by not trying the torque balanced line?

Just a point of curiosity… you've typed (I think?) "Edelman" twice now. It's just Edel.

Also, a point of correction in the above: the putters have varying levels of toe hang. I think some are toe up, some down, some face balanced.

Now, then… I have an Edel Torque Balanced putter.

Here it is compared to my usual one:

Because the weight isn't the same, because the shape isn't the same, because the hosel isn't the same… no, I don't plan to play with this putter. I plan to stick with any of the three copies I have of my original Edel "Standard" or "Vari-Weight" putters (all identical except the weight ports in the one).

Yes, we plan to.

The advantages of the Torque Balanced line are the less expensive cost, the always-included Pixl insert, and… the technology, if you care for it.

The advantages of the Standard series:

  • More heads.
  • More hosels.
  • More lofts.
  • More weights (and heavier head weights).
  • More customization (stamping and paint fill).

This is what my gut was telling me--thanks for the confirmation.

How much of a difference-maker is the Pixl insert?

I like it. It helps keep up ball speed when you hit it on the heel or toe. Plus it looks cool. :-)

In the Standard series, would you also have the ability to use different weights in the heel/toe to achieve some sort of "torque-balanced" effect (which this simply takes to a greater extreme)?  Or were the two weights in the Standard series always equal to one another?

After researching a bit this evening, I'm definitely convinced I want to do a fitting for one of these.

The weights are only in the "Vari-Weight" series. Everything is the same except the added feature re: the weights.

Must be an autocorrect thing, as I'm a Patriot's fan.

@iacas What is your opinion on the weight kits for the torque balanced putters? Do they serve a purpose?

They change the head weight of the putter. :-)

Traditionally for faster greens you use lighter weights, and vice versa… but I have a Vari-Weight putter and yet have never changed the weights on that.

Ok thanks. I like to tinker with stuff so I should probably stay away from them. :-)
