As the saying goes, "Some bogeys are better than others." Just wondering if anyone wants to share a story about a bogey that ended up being a pretty good score?

For me, last summer I was in the semi-finals of our club championship (senior flight) and was two down after seven holes. Hole #8 was an uphill par 3 playing about 170 yards. To the left of the green is a bunker, and to the left of the bunker is a hill that has a severe drop to the 7th fairway. To the right of the green is about 20 yards of rough and then it is out-of-bounds. Most people aim a little right of the green and if you miss the green, you can usually get up-and-down, or at least make a bogey.

My tee shot was hit to the right, but it hit an overhanging tree and bounced out-of-bounds. My opponent's tee shot was slight short of the the green, but in pretty good position. Being a little upset, I put a little more focus into my second shot from the tee and ended up 12 feet from the pin. My opponent chunked his chip shot and then left his approach putt 5 feet from the hole. I holed the 12 footer for a bogey and he took two more putts for a double, so instead of being down three holes I was only down one. It was the turning point in the match, and I ended up winning on the 17th hole.

I love this game. :-D

I once hit a ball 40 yards, with a wedge, out a water hazard, and one putted (12") for a bogey. The ball was in about 1/2" of water sitting on the moss covered concrete bottom of the flood channel. I was golfing with my son in law a hand to remind him that "old guys still rule".

I have a fuzzy memory on anything but pars or better. I really can't remember a good bogey save. Probably because I already wrote off the hole as a miss since I didn't par it.

So no best bogey story for me.

This happened to me last year. One a dog leg par 4, with OB all down the right and red hazard all down the left. I hit my drive way right and was in the fescue. I found it about 5 feet in bounds and smacked a SW but hooded it out and into the hazard on the left. The hazard was dried up because of work being done but it was hit-able although surrounded by tufts of grass I hit a good 7 iron from the hazard and put it 55 from the center of the triple tiered green in the right rough. It dropped a lob wedge from there to a foot. Tried my best on every shot. Was a lot of fun.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
