So, after doing a few drills, for what like seems forever, I finally got it. Hitting a golf ball should be almost what seems like effortless motion.

For the past 2 weeks, I've been doing the drill in the video. I have instruction from Dana, and Mike, and all I can say is wow!! Making good contact, and covering the ball is far easier now, and distance is getting far more consistent than ever, even with limited flight range balls. It really feels good to hit the ball first, then the ground, and watching a 8i just sail. One of these days, I'll get some video posted, until then, I'm posting this video, so you too can get better. At the range tonight was almost surreal, I had some very good players on each side of me, and I didn't feel intimidated at all...Thanks, Dana, and Mike..

Good job.... ....but never, ever say you've "got it". That's something that the golf gods will punish with an epic beatdown! ;-)

I have that same issue with releasing the club. Although I'm not scooping, I'm not holding the club through to impact long enough. I've never been able to figure out how to do this. I've also had 4 instructors and none of them have ever addressed this issue. I can also see where this will help me stay in posture through impact. I feel I'm leaving about 40 yds on the tee with my driver and equivalent yardage elsewhere. I haven't started with the fifth one yet. Two more weeks. Thanks for posting this.

"Got it" = "Kiss of Death"

Ouch.   If I had a dime for every time I think I finally got it ....

I will try the drill among 1/2 dozen ones I am trying now to rid of my flipping.   My hands are almost even with the ball at impact now.

LOL...Can the golf gods hear if you just softly whisper..?  Not saying all my shots are great, but the percentage of good hits have become more and more..Ummm, next time I'll keep my mouth shut..lol. Seriously though, it's a great drill.

Nice job!

What this really makes me wonder is when @mvmac is going to be in NY so I can get an in person lesson from him, too!

I typically make a trip to Erie once a year during the summer. Also @iacas is in Erie all year long ;-)

Sadly, Erie is about 6 hours away and I rarely do long drives. :(

Another way to look at it is to think of the time you'll save by making the trip. Yes, you get some help online here (forget if you were on Evolvr), but you won't have to "search" for the answers. You'll get one on one time with the best instructors in the world, gain clarity on your priority piece and how to improve it and get a bunch of notes/pictures.

Make a weekend out it, I've flown across the country to see Dave and Erik for my game, a 6 hour drive is easy ;-)

I use Evolvr, yes (except I cancelled this month as I won't have time to put in the practice I should this month). Maybe if I convince @colin007 to go with me, I'll go. Haha. I'd find six hours driving in a car alone to be brutal.

6 hours in a car with me would be worse.

Only because you think showing weekly is an option. As long as you showered the morning of and the day we'd return, then it'd be ok. :-)

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
