I play in the mornings and the temperatures vary anywhere from 34F to 80F here in So. Cal. 60F is most comfortable to me as I don't get sweaty "walking/running" the course and making practice swings. OTOH, by the time spring rolls around my body gets more used to the warmer temperatures around here, but I like playing in 60F.

I had fun playing in your area.....  when I went to LA,  forum members took time out of their workweek to play golf with me.  I was very impressed with the hospitality to join me for weekday golf!!  I played the Babe course, Black Gold, and El Diablo something or other...... good fun. I can think of many more that I'd like to play if I ever get back. I was on town for a family vacation, and planned a few "dawn patrol" rounds of golf while in the area. Good fun!!!!!!

On a different trip, I played both courses at La Costa.....I enjoyed it because I remembered many holes from what I have seen on TV when the PGA played there every year back in the day. (La Costa was about 10yrs ago)

I feel for you poor bastards on the east coast buried under the snow!!!   The funny thing is we've had virtually no snow this winter near me..   We had some nice weather in January and I played golf 3 weekends in January!!..LOL

No chance in FEB.....no big snow, but freezing temps.

Yes, I am PUMPED about playing golf this weekend!!!    Forecast says YES........4 days in a row coming up!!    Cant wait!!!!!!!     Sorry about your snow Colin!!

This has been a terrible winter. Lots of snow. Not brutal cold, but enough that the snow never started melting till this week. Sustained high teens to low twenties for two and a half months.

With some notice and a less busy work week, I would definitely do that!

Was the course El Dorado in Long Beach? If so, that's where my coaches meet me. It's a nice course too.

Babe in Industry Hills is also a great course, and I am trying to get out So. Cal. group to play there on our next outing. Black gold in Yorba Linda is also one of the best in our area.

yes...El Dorado.....I want a piece of that damn course!!!!!  We played right behind a big tourney, so the greens were really fast which I like, but they were soft too. I chipped/pitched well that day, but I never judged it right due to the soft first bounce.

The greens are crispy and firm at my daily course, and I never really adjusted to those California soft greens. The grasses killed me..... If I missed a green, my chips mostly all came up short because I wasn't used to the condition and the soft biting first hop.   I want another chance at that course!!    I carded an 79 or 80, but I should have scored 5-7 lower.   I was pissed because I didn't play my short game shots well.  I hit them well, but with bad results not knowing the green texture/slowness.

Yeah, the fringe grass we have around here sucks all the energy out of a ball. When you come out here, I'm up for a round. . .

Was 70 degrees today north of Atlanta and went to the range for the first time this year. I'm SORE! I had to go home and lay down after. It sucks getting old.

Yeah. I'm not in any way near being in "golf shape" right now. I like to ease into the season by going to the range a couple of times, then a par 3, then a real course. I don't want to waste my money at a course when I'm not ready to play. I'm glad I went to the range and didn't make a fool of myself on a course. I'll get there slowly. Golf season around here is pretty long, (10 months, maybe a bit more) and I have a lot of time to get out this year.

I got out and played yesterday finally and shot a +3 on the back nine. Before you laugh, that's good for me. I won't talk about the front nine, though. :)

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
