TaylorMade SLDR Driver

I just got the Taylormade sldr in a 14* loft with a stiff shaft. I hit it on the simulators and it was fantastic! I had the Titleist 913 d2 with a stiff shaft before but couldn't get the launch angle over 8*. I was able to get the Taylormade to about 16*. I was curios about what people think about the driver. I'm doing a full test with it on Friday on the simulator.

I love that driver and still own it. The only problem it is a bit too hard to handle for me. I think I hit it a bit too low, I really should have lofted up more. I am thinking of buying a mid-kick shaft and getting an adapter so I can see how it responds that way. If I find the right shaft I can probably get a few more degrees of launch and still not worry about the spin jumping too high.

It is one of my favorite drivers of all time.

I'm really keen on this club as well. I went from a 9.5 degree driver to a 12 degree SLDR, picking up prob 15 yards of carry and a total of 25 yards on average. Much higher launch too, much lower rpm.

Remember TM's ideal is 17 degree launch and 1700 rpm for optimal launch. Here is a trajectory optimizer that I got off this site

Ya I really need a higher launch. A good driver will help improve game a lot. I got to a 7 handicap while hitting 3wood off every tee and never touching a driver. Hoping to get farther down the fairway!

Today I went to Dicks, and I was hitting in the simulator there. I knew I wanted a a SLDR because I've hit my friends before and loved the feel of it. However, on the simulator, I was swinging 106, and carrying around 265ish, all the balls were a slight draw/fade, or straight. My variation was 27 yards. So the furthest left to the furthest right was 27 yards, not bad. I bought the driver, a 9.5 Stiff with a Speeder shaft, not the Taylormade one, (someone guess how much I paid), and went to the driving range. I hit a large bucket of balls, tons of slices, maybe 3 draws, a handful straight, and 90% were right. Basically, my question isn't, how accurate are those simulators? I'm sure they give the benefit to the user because they want to sell clubs, but I wouldn't think it would have been that drastic. Or, do you guys just think I swing differently in a small simulator room ha on a wide open range? I'm just tired as f*** of my slice, and i need to find a cure for it.

The SLDR, from all reports, is a love it or hate it driver, even during one round. When you hit it on the screws, farthest drives ever. When you don't, the ball drops out of the air. I've read of a lot of guys who love the SLDR but bought another driver due to their inconsistency with it. They'd rather have consistent long distance than playing with a yo-yo.

I bought it, tried it for 2 weeks, didn't love it, and returned it for an AeroBurner 3 wood.

I also have the SLDR and its in the garage. I think Taylor made drivers are just marketing.

I felt the same way.  I had an R1 with an upgraded shaft and all the good stuff and I won the SLDR at an outing.  I took it out on the course and I was crushing it one drive and then struggling to get it out there the next.  I didn't like the consistency.  I even tried putting the White Tie shaft in the SLDR and same thing.  I just couldn't justify taking the R1 out of the bag and ended up selling it.  The White Tie shaft did get the ball up in the air more though with the SLDR than the stock shaft.
