I am heading to Port Charlotte area in a couple weeks to visit my parents.  I was wondering if anyone has played in that area and have any suggestions for some good courses in the area to play.  My wife and I plan on playing 3 days and we would like to play something cool with swamp like features or lots of palm trees.  We have never visited Florida so we have no idea about the Florida golf.  And my parents are no help on this topic.

Thanks in advance

1. Kingsway Country Club is really nice and there are some decent prices on golfnow (don't confuse it with King's Gate though, which is an executive courses.

2. Port Charllotte Golf Club is also nice and well maintained but not nearly as good a design as Kingsway

3. Myakka Pines is solid choice as well, my grandfather was a member there way back when. A lot of gators roaming around http://thesandtrap.com/t/80705/gator-on-the-cart-path-video

4. Boca Royale Golf Club is also very nice though quite a bit shorter than the rest( I'm thinking <6400 from the tips while Kingsway can play well over 7000 if you want it to)

Thanks for the response, I had visited a few of these courses on the web. These would have been the ones I would have picked on my own so this just cemented my picks!!!
