So i holed my second shot on a 484 yd par 5 # 16 at La Mirada Golf Course this weekend in Southern Cal WOOHOO!  Had no idea where it went as green is 40 yards elevated AND your hitting through a giant oak tree with an owl residing in it.  When i couldn't find my ball I glared at group in front :D, but then behold the miracle of Universe walked to the hole and there it was resting at the bottom of the cup lol.

Seems there are enough people out there with aces/hole outs/ eagles, but have any of you here experienced the Albatross?? just curious how often this really happens ..

Getting Double-Eagle at any course is quite an accomplishment, and in my opinion is the hardest to make. The best I have done is birdie though I've come close several times to getting an eagle by virtue of my chip shots, but they all end up short or long. Double-Eagles are the hardest to get, and most people that get the ace aren't even trying it just kinda ends up that way, more people try to get Double Eagles and due to that they are the most coveted scores you can get on any hole.

Great job!

I've had exactly one as well though mine isn't as nice as yours.  I had about 215yd in with a strong head wind so I hit my 3W (236yd carry normally).  The wind died to nothing as I was in my backswing and I flew the green, pinged off a tree and watched it trickle back onto the green and into the cup.  I got sh*t for that one for weeks but a 2 is a 2!! :-D

A double eagle is quite an accomplishment. Many orders of magnitude harder than a hole in one, and quite a bit rarer if memory serves. Nice work.

Hey, the closest I've ever seen anybody come to getting one, I think, was you a few months back at Encinitas!! :beer:

Congrats OP, and welcome!! :dance::beer:

I remember that! Probably one of my best 3-woods ever. And I think @Bechambo might have put one inside of that on 18 later that day. Even still, two perfect shots are much tougher than one, so a double eagle definitely deserves a tip of the cap. To the OP, if you play in the LA/OC, you should consider joining us for a sand trap outing on Saturday May 2nd!

Nice shot.  The closest I've ever come is rolling my 2nd shot about a foot left and 8 feet past the hole.  Had a lot of eagles, 2 aces, but no double eagles.

I hit a 2-iron to about 2 or 3 feet on the par 5, 6th hole at Torrey Pines.  Unfortunately for me, though, it would have been bittersweet because it was in a scramble, and on top of that it wasn't even my drive. :)

To OP:

Outstanding, congrats!   If I care to guess how often it happens, I'd say a million to one, give or take another million or two?   If someone else posts here to say he too had an albatross, I will adjust my guess :-) .   Did you framed the score card & the ball?   That could be something you can pass down for generations. :beer:

That is a sweet and rare shot. Couple weeks ago I dang near dunked an eagle on a 466 par 4 hitting driver then 5i. Just had a little too much speed, landed just short of the green, rolled hitting the flag and stopped about a foot away.

Dave :-)
