Anyone else think enough is enough in regards to these incredibly irritating after shot heckles on PGA tour as well as these snap happy camera phone users.

It seems after nearly every shot some dimwit yells some incredibly unfunny "get in the hole" or "mash potato". The PGA needs to seriously get a grip. I think anyone who yells something after a shot or is caught using a phone/camera should be booted off the premesis.

Thoughts?

There's no reason a digital camera should make a noise.

Well some idiots still find a way to have them make a shutter sound it seems. Why do people need to take pics anyway? Just all part of this show off 'ooh look at me and what I'm doing' culture of the Facebook generation who have to show and tell the world where they are at all times. I'm sure none of their friends give a toss at some grainy longshot of a golfer midswing.

Or, you know, to capture an interesting moment forever like every generation that's had cameras has used them for. If I were 10 feet behind Spieth in a playoff, I'm taking all the pictures I can

If I'm standing 10 feet behind Spieth in a playoff, I'm gonna watch and enjoy with my eyes, not through a bloody phone screen.

Well The Open has fans go through metal detectors and xray machines before being let onto the grounds. If they are found with a phone or camera they have to store it in a locker and pick it up at the end of the day. Pretty sure The Open has a lot less players being disturbed by shutter clicks as a result.

As for moronic yells thats easily enforced as theres stewards on every hole and they could warn someone for doing it and if they do it again boot them out.

I would like commentators to start calling these guys morons, or to say something like "Honestly, that was old five years ago".

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Yeah, the yelling stupid things bit is obnoxious. With photos, as long as it doesn't bother anyone, who cares? The dummies who aren't considerate with it ruin it for all the rest of us.

I don't know if the people that yell stupid things are actually trying to heckle the golfers. They are chumps that just want their buddies to hear them on television.

It is pretty tired.

An iPhone type digital camera? Sure. A DSLR? No. There's still a shutter, a mirror, etc.

Fair enough. I used the term too broadly to mean a camera with no real moving parts, like a camera phone.

Never mind the after shot hecklers, camera shutter sounds.   Fans are still taking shots BEFORE a golfer hits.   I experienced this in first hand when I attended an LPGA event.  Guys taking pictures while golfer is about to swing.  I gave a guy an evil eye after the offense and the guy didn't even blink.  A-hole!

There was an annual tour stop in Vegas several years ago. At the time it was called the Las Vegas Invitational. (LVI) You would have to park some where, and catch a bus/shuttle to the main gate of the tournament. Once you made it to the gate, security would ask you if you had a camera, pager, or cell phone. If you said no, but the security guy thought you did, a search might happen. I actually saw purses, and back packs being searched. If you did, then they gave you two choices. First choice was to check your stuff in at a booth, which you would reclaim when you left the tournament with proper ID, previously given. Second choice was to get back on the bus and take the ride back to your car. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you needed your phone, or pager for medical reasons you would be asked to show a letter from your doctor. A lot folks were getting back on the shuttles.

At the time, this particular tournament was having a tough time selling tickets due to very few of the best of the best wanting to play there. Once the word spread about folks not being able to bring in their electronics, the problem became much bigger.  After that snafu on the tournament organizers part, they started giving away free tickets from various businesses around town for future tournaments. They still sell tickets, but quite a few are still given away.  All the tickets have a buy one, get one free buffet at a nearby casino. Some folks don't even bother with the golf being played, and just use their ticket for the free food.

My thoughts on controlling PGA tour crowds, is that you can always over regulate anything, I always thought it was very arrogant of players having fans removed over something they said, or did that didn't amount to much. I think Sabbatini was one of the worst. If you want fans to show up, you can't piss them off with too many regulations.

Me, I had a great pair of binoculars with a built in camera.  They never checked binoculars, or spotting scopes back then.

Not taking pictures while a player is about to swing is a common sense.   Anyone who does this is not a true golf fan, IMO.   Since this is a rant thread ... anyone who leaves cigarette butts or sun flower seeds on green are not true golf lovers.  Ditto for those who consistently don't fix their big divots or ball marks.   Ditto for those who show up late for their tee time and make others wait.   Ditto for those who bring boom box to play while I am just about to hit from tee box.

I think they should just edit it out. People will stop doing it when they know they won't get any attention.

I agree, but these guys are so plastered by the end of the final pairing they are beyond reason.  I felt bad for Spieth, the fans could have cost him the victory but ultimately he shouldn't have been over there to begin with.  It was a high pressure situation and very tough shot, he was looking for another victory and wanted to win badly for his sister who was following him in the gallery.  I think an ant farting might have distracted him under those circumstances.
