For those of you with interest in launch monitors, I saw a new one called SkyTrak, and it looks very promising. Costs $2K (much cheaper than Trackman... But looks much better/useful than OptiShot). It looks like it may be a new SkyGolf (SkyCaddie) product... Has anyone else seen this, and have any thoughts?

Hi. After a few months of deciding on gc2, the cheap FS, and SkyTrak systems, i decided on SkyTrak: - budget - space required for ball flight - its accurate 'enough' for my golf ability. Enough to make decisions/changes in my swing So far so good. I need to spend more time on it though. I have a loft inside with a NetReturn and RealFeel mat. Wish i had this setup in November before winter. Now the weather is nice!

Mcat12, thanks for chiming in. I'd be very interested to hear your experience as you continue to use the system more. I'm waiting for it to be compatible with PC before making the purchase, so in the meantime paying attention to reviews. So far everything seems very positive! Quick question, do you have the SkyGolf subscription so you can play courses? If so, how much is the monthly/annual subscription? Also, how do you like that mat? I have an old range mat, and my wrist is starting get a little stiff/sore at times, so I'm trying to think of a lower impact solution.

I REALLY want one of these but they're not available in the UK yet (still), I was going to pick one up the next time I'm im the US but can't even do that as the App is USA only. What a load of balls.

That stinks man, hopefully it'll get out on PC and in the UK soon! In the meantime, at least we're avoiding some of the trial and error

Thanks for the condolences, I really want one! Sick of waiting now, I'd be tempted by a GC2 HMT if there were any used ones knocking about.

I've had one in my cart for a week now hoping to read that one review to push me over the edge to order it but I haven't found it yet.  Reviews are mixed, some say it's accurate, others say it's a bit off in club head speed and ball speed.

Hi there. Quick update on my machine setup. Im in the middle of moving to a new house so ive not had a bunch of time. Ive logged in only a few hours which makes me feel pretty pathetic considering the price. I did decide to upgrade my net from a sklz 8 ft to a net return which does help with reps. My expectations for SkyTrak were huge..:and they still are. The app has some quirkyness to it like changing clubs in your inventory, to how side spin is measured. Ive also had early experience with the system not logging shots but that could just be me getting to know how to use it. The app does look nice and it has enough tech and game feel for me to keep coming back. A few weeks ago i tried to contact SkyTrak for a customer service issue and boy was that difficult. Im not normally a phone person but my work regiment makes it easier for me to just call someone. Well, easier said then done. They have their customer service team focused on their online chat system which i can appreciate. My situation calls for other contact options and it seems as if their resource is limited. Buying a SkyTrak was not intended to be a substitute for GC2 or TM or FS. Not even close. For my time, ability, and location, this system gives me just the right stuff.

I have a SkyTrak and have had it about 3 weeks and have used it maybe 15 times. It doesn't actually measure clubhead speed, but calculates it based on the measured ball speed and spin axis. There is a ton of information on the golfsimulator forums and as has been mentioned, some say it is very accurate, others say it is off on the the side angle/spin and some on ball speed.

I've had mixed results but mostly they have been positive. Some days it seems right on, like yesterday when I took a video for posting on this site, it displayed exactly what I felt the shot did, the distance was in line with what I would expect on the course and the right to left curve was there and accurate to my on course experience, unfortunately. :-P Other days, I feel like it is measuring slow. I GPS measure my drives (a 4W) and I have never hit on one the SkyTrak within 10-15 yards of what I hit them on the course. Now, I don't always hit it 255-265 in real life, but I hit that multiple times per round in the last three rounds. Have barely cracked 240 on the SkyTrak. Now, that could be due to their roll out not lining up with reality, or it could be swinging out of my shoes trying to get the big number and compromising my speed, etc. Generally, I find it more accurate for shorter clubs and less accurate on distance/speed with the longer clubs. My brother-in-law can kill his driver and I think after hitting 40 he only got one out over 250. I have seen him do it multiple times a round every time I have played with him, so again, not sure what that is about. Could be swinging indoors and being a bit scared to hit something.

Bottom line I am glad I bought it. I think it has helped me understand that I need to practice differently. When I can hit balls every day in my garage, I realized I cannot go out there and whack 60+ balls in 45 minutes without getting WORSE. I lose tempo, try to kill it, etc. Kinda silly I needed a $2k machine to tell me that. :)

I do think it is accurate. It gets the shanks, the thin shots, the fat shots, everything the way I would expect.
