keep 60° or dump it for 2-hybrid?

I do not use my 60° wedge very much... about 4 times a year on the course... I'm thinking about dumping it for a more useful club (WITB is in sig)... thinking of either a 2-hybrid or a 5-wood, more leaning toward the hybrid though... I don't hit a lot of flops or leave myself short sided much, even when I do the 56° works fine... Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated... Thanks, Shane

I think you've pretty much answered your own question. If there is a gap you can fill between your 3 wood and 3 hybrid, I say go for it.

Seems like if you can get by without a 60 degree it's an easy decision. If you get to the point where you start missing it, you can always switch or  even change the make-up of your bag depending on the course you're playing???

As far as going with a 5 wood or a hybrid, I keep reading where a hybrid is just enough more versatile that more people are gong with that vs a fairway wood. I love my 5 wood but everyone is different. I also don't have the gaps between my long clubs that many of the longer hitters do.

I would say try out the 2H and see how it works for you.  The 2H proves difficult for some players to use except off tee or fairway. If the 2H is iffy, try a 5W.

Take the 60º out of your bag, but don't dump it .  If you play a course that has deep greenside bunkers, you may need a 60ª degree to get out of the sand.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Home course no deep bunkers... other courses sometimes...

If you will get more use out of a 2H over the 60 degree I would say go for it. If you need need to play the occasional flop shot you can just open the face up with the 56.

(Sigs don't show up in my mobile browser so I had to flip to desktop mode, argh, anyway....) How far do you hit your 3W, 3H, 4H, and 5iron? Just curious since I plan to fine tune and adjust my clubs this year.

I'd maybe play a few rounds and see where your 3 wood settles in at, then if it were me I'd probably tweak your wedges. Looks like your PW is 45* so maybe tune your wedge gaps and wedge bounce specs as a different thing to consider.

I am about the same yardage wise, except I dont carry a 3H, I carry a 5 wood which goes about 220-215.

I got my 5W for free with the purchase of my driver years ago and never replaced it.
I basically use it off the tee and long par 3's.

I took my 60 out of my bag. I have spent time learning to do all the things my 60 does, but with my 56.

If you dont use it, dont carry it.

Drop the 60 and grab a 2 or 3 H or 5W

I would go with the 5W. I've always found them easy to hit and pull it out several tomes a round.

I've tossed around this idea and pondered it a little... I've thought of even one more possibility... 7w... The issue is finding the matching 7w in stiff... Gotta be TourEdge I'm a staff player lol (just kidding TE doesn't pay their players)

I've been playing my 4i lately, but both my 4h and 4i are in the bag... Took the 60° out. Do you think 2h or 5w would be better?

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
