Bought my old irons in 1998 and my current (custom fitted) irons in 2012.  I don't see myself replacing those for at least a couple more years soooooooooooooo,

I voted 5+.

I have gone through some iron sets in the past but I really like the JPX 850 Forged I bought this year so I think I'll be holding onto this set for a while.  If I buy new irons it will be to replace the JPX 825's in my away bag with the JPX 850 Forged so I'll have the same irons in both bags.

5+. I've owned 4 different sets of irons since 1984. Hogan Edge, Lynx Parrallax, Titleist 962 DCI's and my current 695's that have been in the bag close to 5 years now. I'm not an equipment/gadget freak. I like the irons that I have, that's why I bought them in the first place. When I buy new ones it will likely be because of a need based on getting older, rather than simply wanting something newer/sexier....

I've played 3 sets of irons since 2004, current set I just started using this year and I foresee them staying in the bag for many seasons.

Played my hogan magnum plus irons for 13 years. I'm going in to my eighth season with my mizuno mx 23s. Before those it was a junior set for 4 years.

I got my current irons right at the beginning of 2011, so it's been four years. I don't intend to replace them for a few years.

Irons I replace fairly often ... and I usually get a different brand/manufacture every time I switch ... not a set of Pings I like right now, so they make it 18+ months.

I went with 2-4 years. Had a set I was playing with for about 4 or 5 years, then bought a new set two years ago, only to be replaced by the Pings I was able to review through the site last year. I would have kept playing the second set if it wasn't for that. I don't plan on changing anytime soon, so it works out out to 2-4 years between sets. I did buy a set of vintage clubs recently, but that's just for fun, not intended as a replacement, so I'm not counting those.

Purchased starter set: 2006. In 2008, around the time I broke 90 for the first time, I convinced myself I was going to be a great ball striker, went and got Mizuno MP-57s. I love them, but they aren't good for my game at this point, and I'm far better now than I was when I got them. In 2011, moved to a component game improvement set, especially since I knew I'd be taking a year off or two from playing regularly (Sept 2011 - Jun 2013, played about 5-6 rounds, total). I don't foresee switching any time soon, and I've told myself I won't even contemplate it while I'm still a double-digit handicap unless something forces the issue.

I've had my Mizuno JPX 800 Pros for about four years and I don't see them disappearing anytime soon. I voted 5+

I've had three sets since 2009.  The first I gave to my son.  The one I play now, I got to be more forgiving and higher launch than my MP-57 set.  I donated the MP-57 set to the First Tee.

I've had 2 set since picking golf back up in 2011-2012. The ones I'm currently gaming are going to be in the bag for a while so I voted 5+ years. The set I had back in the day lasted 12 years with a 5 or 6 year break between 05-11.

My previous set of irons I picked up in 1992. They were replaced last year. I plan on trying to replace them every 4 years or so as technology improves the clubs.

Orlimar TriMetal Mizuno MP-57 Nike VR Forged Pro Combo I've also had: Adams Idea Black CB3 TaylorMade RocketBladez Tour TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB Callaway Apex I've given some of those away, and some I keep as backups. The Nikes are in my bag at the moment. I like them a lot, so I'd only replace them with something similar (Titleist CB, various Mizunos, the new Nike Vapor irons, etc.).

I have two sets of iron right now.  An older Wilson set (fat shaft), and a Adams hybrid/mid-hybrid set.  Right now I am playing the Wilsons because I did not really like hitting the 6 and 7 mid-hybrids anymore.

I would actually very much like to get a newer set of GI irons.
