I've been Playing Golf for: Last Summer

My current handicap index or average score is: Generally between +3 - +7 through 9 holes (9 year old girl tee lengths)

My typical ball flight is: slight draw

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: More consistent center club face contact and the push right off toe.

This is my 9 year old daughter.  I have had 2 recent back surgeries so I cannot share my own swing at this time.  My daughter really loves to play and has a great time doing it.  She is highly competitive and wants to improve as much as possible.  As a dad my goal is to just keep her interested and playing.

She has worked really hard on improving her take away as she used to come way inside.  Also she used to go way across the line at the top and has really improved.  Where would you look for improvement moving forward?  Thanks!

I've been Playing Golf for: Last Summer

My current handicap index or average score is: Generally between +3 - +5 through 9 holes (6 year old tee lenghts)

My typical ball flight is: straight

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Just more consistent contact.  He hits the ball very straight.

And here is my 6 year old son (5 in video).  I don't have a recent video or one from behind the line.  With him I am careful not to say much other than encouragement.  Mostly just setup, grip, and just slowing him down a little.  He just loves to hit balls and play on course.  I don't really want to focus too much on technique of swing or anything until he is another year or 2 older. He has some really good natural habits.

Anyone who has experience with juniors would love to hear from you on what you would recommend.  I try to not say much and encourage more than anything.  My daughter is at the point where she does well with more detailed coaching and instruction.

Love seeing the kids play.  :)

I'd look at getting things cleaned up here with the direction the sweet spot travels on the backswing. Makes sense that she was across the line if this is how the takeaway was.

So rather than have the hands work away from her on the takeaway with the clubhead loading low and in, she'll feel like the arms/hands work a little more "in" while keeping the clubface pointed at the ball longer. Will make the transition less complicated.

This is Lexi, note on the left how you can't see the top of her left hand, compare that to your daughter's first pic.

And here is my 6 year old son (5 in video).

This is awesome.

Your boys swing is awesome to watch. The big thing I've heard a lot of experts with juniors say is not to discourage any kid from swinging fast. It's something you can learn as a kid that can not be taught later. I think the Greg Norman approach applies. Learn how to swing fast when you are young and the straighten it out when you get older.

@mvmac Thank you for spending so much time looking over my daughters swing and giving some good advice.  It makes some good sense what you are saying.  Prior to what you see in this video she used to really pull her hands and club straight in and around on her takeaway.  So what you see in the video above is an exaggerated change from that.

@mvmac @boogielicious @maddog0512 @cedrictheo Thanks for the kind words on my son.  The swing he has amazes me as well.  It is all natural and far better than what I have to offer as well.

@cedrictheo I had never heard that from Greg Norman.  That is probably very sound advice.  The only thing I mention to my son is slow/smooth back and fast forward.  Thoughts on that?

@DaNutz303 Recommending smooth might be ok but you want him trying to hit the ball far and swinging fast. I'd spend a few minutes each time he practices where he tries to hit it as far as possible. If you can find a way to measure the speed you can make it into a game. Perhaps get a swing speed radar and see how high he can get the number in 5 swings. Or see if he can hit it past a certain flag on the range. For speed training Andrew Rice recommends 3 sets of 5 where you try to swing faster each swing aka "climb the ladder."
