I am working with Brian Mogg and have been for about a year now and I am curious to find out if anyone else on here has worked with him before? Here is a link to his website: http://www.moggacademy.com Before I met him I had worked with a few other people around the seattle area and never found someone I really trusted. Brian has seen the next level that I am trying to reach and knows what it takes to get there and I am already seeing huge benefits from working with him. In the last year I have dropped from a 3.5 handicap to a scratch golfer which has been a great process. Let me know your thoughts!

I see on his website he has coached Joe Durant, not sure how much he worked with him but Joe is one of the best drivers of the golf ball out there. If he helped him at all he is a pretty good coach.

Can you share what specifically he is having you work on? Maybe share some videos of the change?

Just saying you get better could happen for multiple reasons, showing a change he helped you make would be a better testimonial.

Here is my swing the first time I worked with him in June last year:

Pardon the follow through, I chunked it pretty badly :)

And here is 9 months later, this March:

Obviously there is still a bit to work on but the progress has been amazing.

Currently I am working on getting more wrist hinge in my take away because I have getting too much lag from the top of my swing into the ball and have to time it perfectly to hit the shot I want. Not really a bad problem but the level of consistency I am striving for is a long way off still. 100 balls a day for the next month until the high school State tournament should help :)

Previously we have worked on better posture and getting my body into a better position going into the downswing because I was clearing my hips too fast (I used to be a serious baseball player). We also worked on cleaning up the lines in my takeaway a bit and getting better elbow spacing at the top of my swing. It should get with the wrist hinge stuff I am working on as well.

Nice swing!

Looks like he is working on some minor changes in your swing because it was pretty good to start with. Keep us updated on your progress.

Obviously, I'm no pro. But having looked at so many tour swings, your position at the top in your first swing looked great. You've gotten a lot flatter in the second swing. Was that something you specifically worked on or was it the result of a different change you made?

We havent really messed much with the losition at the top of the swing so it is more a function of what we are working on. Over the winter when I was working on elbow spacing I started to get a bit across the line but once I was used to that feeling I started getting into a little more laid off spot, I found I could feel the club staying more in to out through the swing. In the first swing I make a slightly over the top move that we got rid of.

I went and worked with him last weekend: here is some more video for comparison. chspeed as you can see I am less laid off and more neutral in this swing.

Here is some FO video for you guys to see what I am talking about with the wrist hinge. I have a wide swing arc but when my left arm is parallel to the ground I have about 140 degrees of angle between the shaft and arm, we want that closer to 90. You can see the problem it is causing at the top, at normal speed it just looks a little whippy and quick but if you guys rip the video and slow it down on your own you can see at the very top I am adding extra wrist cock and kind of losing control of the club head a little bit.

Here is the difference... it's still a pretty new move but it is feeling better. Now that the takeaway has started to solidify a little we are working more on my downswing. I tend to get too narrow with too much lag so doing a pump drill to try and feel my hands staying wider from the top of the backswing. It is frustrating now but I know it will lead to more consistency down the road!

I am working on the same thing (90 degrees wrist set). If i am not setting the club early momentum takes the club to far. When my shoulder stop turning my backswng is over, if i am not setting my wrist arms going still back when shoulders have stopped. Great work so far.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
