I've been Playing Golf for: 20 years on and off. My current handicap index or average score is: 95 for 18 holes. My typical ball flight is: Extremely high. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Hooks [rule] Videos: Here are a couple of vids of my swing. Any suggestions? I have pretty good distance, need to get reliable and consistent. My bad shots are hook. Normal shape slight draw. To me, I look too upright, back not straight (hump behind neck), and swing plane appears upright. In my work clothes, both videos, so not looking very sporty.Lol

How was that shot in the down the line video? Comparable to your average shot? To me it looks like a huge pull, at least based on the ball flight:

If your normal ball flight is a draw, it's probably a pull draw, because you're swinging way across the ball from out to in. This might be due to a whole lot of swaying going on in your back swing:

Ideally your left hip should stay on that line or even move slightly ahead of it. Because of this it's very hard for you get your weight forward at impact:

Having your weight back causes you to swing out to in, which can cause snap hooks and all kinds of problems. You should check this out:

I hope it helps.

In the video from the rear, it was a pull. About 30 foot left of aiming point. Straight left. On the sway, should I go to the (swing in a barrel ) routine? Putting rods in the ground on each side, to stop the sway? Thanks, Jack

I actually think your posture looks pretty good.

LL91,

You are correct on that ball flight, in my video.

I was thinking of another video that I didn't use.

In the video above in went out far left and came back to the middle a little bit.

It was a very ugly shot.

Thanks,

Jack

Thanks 14ledo81,

Are you referring to spine angle in the video from the back?

Jack

Yes.

Do a search for the posture thread.

Edit:  Here it is.

Note that your hips slide back, and your head does as well.

iacas, Thanks for the help. I'm going to work on exercises to help my swaying. Maybe I can get an updated video in a week , so that you guys can check my swing for improvement. Thanks for all of your help, Jack

    • We do not buy extended warranties. We will use one of our credit cards for the purchase that extends the warranty "x 2". Our thoughts are: a. if the item is a lemon, it will likely break right away and we can attempt to apply the original warranty or credit card extension. b. over the long haul, we will probably save more money by not purchasing the extended warranty and fixing/junking broken items out of our own pocket. The important thing is to keep some records of purchases so one may make a claim under the manufacturer's warranty. I recently sent back some Footjoy shoes for leaking and Footjoy did a reat job of making the claim process work very well. I had the original receipt, warrant info and box. Easy peasy.

    • This is pretty much how I look at it.  I understand there are times when the piece of mind has value. I think over the long haul I'm money ahead by never buying the extended warrantee. Hell, What do I know? I went to Ch!cago PubIic SchooIs.
