If you think you need a long backswing and great shoulder turn to create power, take note of Bo's position at A4, the top of the backswing. His left arm gets barely past parallel. All his power comes from swinging his arms really fast. He doesn't even have much hip turn at impact.

Apparently, we can add another athletic activity to Bo Jackson's impressive list: Bo knows long-drive contests.

Jackson participated in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf event Monday and stole the show with a mighty blow reminiscent of the legendary home runs he used to hit. Auburn football coach Gus Malzahn also won a closest-to-the-pin contest, but c'mon, this day was all about BO. Here's the video:

He's got a little chicken wing there, arms could be more extended, but point remains, if you do arms piece right, you'll get decent distance, w/o getting lots of ground force.

And don't forget he's 51.

I do wonder if it's elevated/downhill, altitude and/or wind behind. I'm guessing there's something helping them out w/resp to distance, not to undermine the accomplishment.

How many clubs did he break in half until he got to this point? That's what I want to know. He probably didn't have to use his head or thigh to break golf club shafts in half.

Arm extension seems to be huge and that's one thing I've really tried to hammer on so far this year. I thought I was keeping my arms extended but I wasn't so now I take what feels like a shorter backswing so I can ensure my arms are locked into a fully extended position. When I do it right I hit the ball quite a ways (for me), usually very straight, and I get the nice smash sensation and sound on the ball. Anyway Jackson looks like he pulls it off because he's a huge freakin' dude.

Our high school team played against his in our spring game. I was an intimidating 125lb safety. Of course at the time none of us knew who he was. He busted through the line, I broke down, wrapped up on him, he carried me around thirty yards into the end zone. When we reached the end zone he just stopped running and looked down at me, I let go and was lying on the ground, ref came over and asked me if I enjoyed my ride. LOL

Not surprised one bit to see a former pro baseball player who can put a drive out there farther than most people. I read somewhere at some point that Mickey Mantle put his drives out there 340+ on a regular basis (and that was without modern equipment).

Bo Jackson............LOL I mean c'mon...really? Who is surprised?

I know it's been a few decades since the "B0 KNOWS" era, but lets not forget he is a freak of nature athlete. I am old enough to have seen his amazing performances whether it be playing Auburn football, baseball with the Royals, or his part-time hobby with the Raiders as it happened live. I know nothing about his golf game. For all I know he's a 18HC that plays 5 times a year in corp events, but this doesn't surprise me one bit. The dude can knock a baseball out of the park with a simple flick....like trying to 'chip away' a ball outside the strike zone.........oopps...it stayed fair and went YARD.

This man is one of the greatest athletes that ever lived. He didn't realize his full potential only due to serious injuries. Knowing BO can "flick" a golf ball 330ys with poor form..........this doesn't surprise me one bit as a man in his 50's........ LOL

Speed, power, strength...............the man is a freak of nature!!! I'd love to play 18 holes with that dude!.....so long as he isn't a slow player! LOL

For people in their 20's, they really missed watching an almost super-human athlete. What's even more impressive is that he did all this without doing steroids or any performance enhancing drugs. I saw the 30 for 30 on him and it really brought back some memories. Bo Jackson was amazing.

The ultimate irony with the man is that his big injury came as a result of his massive strength. On that tackle, if he had simply gone down like a mere mortal, the injury would have never happened.

The card I have (packed away in boxes) is from the Classic board game. The web suggests it came out in 1987. It has him in an Auburn football jersey leveling a bat in front of him. I'd guess it probably isn't in good enough condition to be worth much, but still a neat card.
