Hi all Quick question I'm looking at replacing my hybrid, it's the taylormade 3 rescue with stiff shaft. As I've been having lessons recently my swing speed has increased and I seem to be pull hooking everything, I've been told the shaft is too whipy. The club I'm looking at as a replacement is the ping g30 with a tour stiff shaft. I've been told the Taylormade stiff shaft isn't that stiff as shafts go and was wondering if the ping tour stiff will be better ?

The flexibility of the shaft isn't causing you to pull hook, it is a mechanical issue. A small increase in clubhead speed isn't going to cause you to suddenly overpower the shaft because each flex can cover a good 30+ mph range of swing speeds. My guess would be you are swinging too hard in the transition phase of the swing, very easy to lose the place of the clubhead when that happens.

Ping Tour Stiff on an I25 driver head 45.5 inch shaft is 273 cpm The Ping Stiff on the same head at 45.5 inches is 247 cpm.

Thanks savvysweed. I was wondering that it just I was doing a gapping session with my new irons and I tried my hybrid while I was there ( I never use it anymore ). Everything was consistently straight the got the hybrid out and massive pull hook every time. He wasn't giving me a lesson but did say for that to happen with just one club it's probably the shaft. I got fitted for a driver a few weeks back , my swing speed was consistently 117 mph and they put me in a tour stiff shaft in the ping g30 ls. They didn't have the X shaft to try but he said I didn't need too as my spin rates were all around 2000 and my distances were good. That's why I thought the same shaft in a hybrid should be ok ?

Thanks rdsandy , do you know how this compares to project x 6.0 rifleshafts ? I have them in my irons and they seem to be fine

I'm not familiar with those shafts.

Right, it's not the shaft.

I have the tour stiff in my G30 driver and fairway, if you like the 6.0 flex, then you'll be good with the tour stiff PING shafts.
