I play off 17. Usually two put ( with my left hand on top and right on bottom) however struggle to make the long putts. I feel a lot more in control with my hands the other way round for long putts however for short putts I feel quite out of control. What should I do?

I grip the putter left hand on top and my grip pressure is more for the left hand than right.  This helps me for distance control.  I would recommend you review the thread below to help out putting.  This has helped many of us.

Now a lot depends on what you mean by long putts. If we're in the 15 to 20 foot range, the pro's don't make all that many and their playing on really good greens but anything longer should be looked at as a lag for a good 2 putt. I recall a question asked of Arnold Palmer and Trevino, "if you could change one thing about the way you played the game, what would it be?", they both answered, Putt left hand low. As for your particular problem, decide on what grip you want / like and practice, practice, practice.

What should you do? change it, find what works best for you, nothing wrong with changing a putter grip, I don't know why pros that struggle don't experiment more, it worked for Sergio.

I use left hand low for the long putts, I find my speed control for bigger hits is more consistent, but for the close ones, like inside 10', I use the traditional right hand low.

    • I agree with @pganapathy about removing some clubs. I would recommend removing the 2, 3, 4 and 5 irons for now. Play with Driver 3W 5W 3H 5H 6 iron 7 iron 8 iron 9 iron PW ( you don’t have listed) 52 56 Putter Th 60 wedge can be difficult for new players, but you could keep that If your 3H is adjustable, increased the loft to be more like a 4H. Play with these on course and see if you can get a feel of the actual yardages for each club and especially the gaps between them. It may take 10 or more rounds. A par 3 course is helpful for determining the gaps in the irons and some woods too. A device like a Shot Scope H4 can really help give you your actual yardage on course.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
