Watching this intermittently on TGC.  WTF????  The pace of play is glacial.  Actually, it is slower than glacial, I just don't know a word to better describe it.

I did enjoy seeing one of the matches go 24 holes last night but I had to DVR it and come back to it because the play was absurdly slow.

Anyone else?

I caught a bit of the semi-finals on what I guess was a replay this morning. I didn't notice pace of play because I was half watching it half working on something. I had other things to do today so I didn't watch the finals; had the Trojans advanced, I would probably have tried to work around the timing.

The course looks decent. And some of the gals have nice legs (and swings).

Congrats to Stanford. As I watched it… I thought Baylor was going to hold on for the win. Guess that didn't happen. :)

I enjoyed the broadcasts immensely.  I am watching the replay as I type this.    Slow pace?   Didn't notice - I don't think it was any slower than PGA or LPGA tours.

I felt really bad for that girl from baylor in the last match. It's tough playing an individual sport as part of a team I would think. It was pretty fun to watch and I was impressed. Then again I'm pretty easily impressed when it comes to golf.

i was able to work from home and had it on in the background. I really enjoyed watching the event and I like the new format that includes match play.  Unfortunately, I'll be travelling for the next few days for work and probably won't be able to watch much of the guys championship.

On the bright side, I'm hoping to get onto Bethpage Red on Saturday morning before I return home.

All y'all that didn't notice the pace of play are just outing yourselves as slow players! :-)

Yes ...

When you're 2up with 2 to play, the odds of your opponent scoring birds on the last 2 hole are low -- but the Steakhouse spell check sux - Stackhouse managed it. After that, the BU senior was off her game. On the last hole, she hits a beautiful drive and then hits the approach badly -- left and over the green.

I thought it was odd that the Baylor coach was nowhere to be seen with his player while the Stanford coach was walking with her player, coaching her, and I guess offering warm assurances. Perhaps the BU player, Hayes, did not need that security, but the differences in play between the two players was wide on the last 4 holes. The BU player might have felt she was alone on an island, and then would look over and see her opponent practically holding hands with Mom (coach).

I've been watching and haven't noticed the slow pace, but if so I bet it's because they carry, it's a silly act of bravado IMO, wears a player out unnecessarily, a small girl with that big bag? come on, just use a push cart or better yet, ride.

The greens are really tough though, making the bad putts look really bad.

I don't think carrying should cause a 5 minute torture fest over whether to lay up or go for it.  I don't think carrying should cause a four minute discussion with a coach as to which direction a putt breaks.  And I don't think carrying explains backing off shots multiple times -- ala Kevin Na et al.

Actually fun to watch - the last group played well and it was good golf

pace of play?  I believe they were keeping up with the group in front of them.....and I didn't see any group behind them being held up either

; )

(I see a lot slower in the PGA - but we get the benefit of jumping to other groups.  When it's the end of a PGA tourny, following the last group seems slower than these girls).

Seemed slow to me, too.

Thought I saw the BU player at the last use AimPoint Express with her fingers, and then did other things. On other greens did not see her use it. Could be mistaken or maybe she is not committed to it.

Exactly.   That was my earlier point, no slower than LPGA or PGA with the win on the line.

And one more thing.   There was no other live/delayed golf broadcast on Tue/Wed.   So what if the pace was slow?   It's not like I (or others) have other stuff to watch. :-P

I thought it was some of the most entertaining golf I've watched in a long time.  Coming down to the final match between 2 real battlers.  Great shots along the way like the Baylor girl's shot from the mud on 16.  Disasters like the Stanford's girl's travails on the 13th.  I hadn't watch any of the previous stuff and didn't know these teams or players from Adam, but I was drawn in almost immediately.

But I do not like the rules that allow the coach to essentially play the caddie role.  Not to mention having the coach walk up to the green and stand there so the player can be laser the exact spot the coach wants them to land the ball.

I was rooting for Baylor most of the way but I kind of got turned around a little near the end.  It was the french girl on Stanford that did it.  While she was watching that final match, she consistently applauded the Baylor girl's good shots (the shot on 16 and then the putt).  But then when the Stanford girl made the big putt on 18 to extend the match not a single Baylor player applauded.  I know they were disappointed, but when the french Stanford girl was doing her applauding it looked pretty disappointing for her side as well.  It was a little thing but it did affect how I felt about the teams.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I found  that quite refreshing.   Baylor girls, not so much although it may have to do with their disappointment of their sure victory slipping away.

I thought overall it was very enjoyable to watch and I was able to watch the ends of the semi's and finals.  I did think at times play ground to a halt... Did you see the final hole of the semi's when the girl from Duke hit it in the hazard but it was playable?  I thought they were going have to come back the next day to play her shot.  I think at times it seems slow because there were only a few players on the course... in LPGA and PGA broadcasts they can switch around in between shots to other players.  The shot by the Baylor girl out of the hazard was one of the best shots I've ever seen.  That should have been the dagger.

I must say, I don't think a PGA tour player could have done that better.   I was pretty sure the shot would not reach green, never mind almost holing it.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
