Question about getting fitted for new clubs….NEED HELP

So I have a question and this dead horse might have been beat for too many threads, but please I need HELP!!  I am in the market for new clubs, but I am having a hard time paying that much for clubs (really hate spending a LOT of money).  The last clubs I bought were not fitted, but have played very well for me (Cobra Amp Cells).  I love them, but I really want to up my game.  They have a graphite shaft and I do not like them anymore.  I am okay with buying a set that is a (no more than 2 years old), but can I have them fitted?  They would not be used clubs…..Any input would be great!

Typically, if a club is already made, it is tough to fit to you unless all the components are pulled and you are fit to the right shaft, length, lie, grip size, etc.  Doing that costs money.

The extent to which you want fitting may depend on the state of you game -- if your swing is consistent and repeatable, then a fitting may offer more benefit.

If your swing is off but improving, and you do not want to spend money, well, there is preowned, and get the lies fit to you, and put some grips on 'em.

If you start from scratch, go on a sim with custom guy, where the shaft and everything will be built based on consistency from one club to another, that usually takes some money.

What's the budget and where is your game?

It would be very hard to find a place to get old clubs fitted with anything outside of changing lie angles, and lofts. You'd probably not be able to get custom shafts unless you buy the shafts your self and have someone remove the current shafts that come with the club and put the new ones in. This could cost upwards of $250-$500 depending on the shafts and labor costs.

If you buy clubs on sale you are buying off the shelf from what the store has in stock. Most golf club companies will not allow custom ordering of previous year's models once a new model has come out. Unless you find an off the shelf club that fits you pretty good it would be tough to get on sale items.

I guess my lie is what I am looking to change.  I noticed the other day that my toe is down a little.  I really haven't looked at a budget, but I am not looking to spend a LOT because I was looking for a new driver.  Is it better to have a fitting or have my lie changed on my clubs?

Depends on how much the lie angle needs to be changed. At most you are looking at 1-2 degrees for non-forged irons.

Well the only thing standard in my clubs are the lie. Lofts and shafts are custom specs.

It's not that you buy new clubs each year so i would go for a new set irons fully fitted,

and go for a used driver. If you search for a driver 2 years old, you can most likely customize them.

And you can always buy a new shaft in them later....

Mr Desmond offered a good suggestion, but if you want to explore a little wider range, I'd try to find a range where they have a Ping fitting instructor or at least the Ping 6 iron club cart. Hit the color code you feel is what you need and then go from there, either up or down on the lie angle. Pay attention to ball flight, for that's the real feedback. If you like a particular lie / color code, then you now know what you need to do to your clubs and if the lie angle is to much for adjustment, then it's clear you need new sticks. As for the driver, a 2 year old adjustable one should work fine.
