I didn't know Nicklaus was in the Woods should fix himself camp. Also, Woods practiced till he had a blood blister during the Memorial. I thought I heard something like that during the press conference... from an unmic'ed reporter.

He also said that he never switched coaches and always went back to Jack Grout. When suggesting Tiger coaching himself, he referenced modern technology. He didn't say it exactly this way, but at the very least he implied that Tiger should look back to see what used to work for him and then go back to that himself.

Paralysis from analysis. Tiger is too focused on the swing instead of the shot in front of him. His genius over the years was his ability to hit the shot that was required at the moment. He's got to get back to playing with his instincts. A talk with his instructors from his youth may serve him well.

Tiger has always cared about the mechanical side of his swing.-He told Butch he hated being laid off while winning the Masters by 12 in his major pro debut fer cryin out loud. When he GETS the mechanics you see the artistry-But he has ALWAYS cared about the mechanics.

Not to the degree that Foley and Como have him focused. These guys have really screwed him up but, as Chamblee (I know, the evil one) has said, it is really Tiger's fault for listening to them and their approach. The short game in particular is a result of their intrusion into his head. I'm a double digit handicap but I am always able to improve my short game just by going to the short game range and getting my "feel" back.

To Foley's credit, Tiger did win five times in 2013. I think the biggest mystery in all of this was moving on to Como and changing his swing yet again. I think it's just "swing change overload" right now and that's why we keep hearing the infamous "I'm stuck between patterns" every 10 seconds in an interview. I don't know where he goes from here, but like Jack, Azinger and others have said, I think he needs to figure this out on his own.

I think you have this backwards. Tiger is drawn to these people because of their approach. He wants to work with guys that look at the swing the same way he does. I recall reading in [i]How I play Golf[/i] that he loves to sit in the film room and analyze his swings (and I'm sure other people's, too). It's just how he works.

I guess I am surprised Jack would comment on Tiger's problems. It is unlike him. But I think he is correct that Tiger needs to just get on the range without an instructor or a camera and get the 'feel' back. Just relearn how to make the ball do what you want. Certainly no one was ever better at it than Tiger and while he is older and suffered some injuries he still has what it takes to win, he just needs to quit swinging the club and return to playing golf. Difficult to do when you're not playing well.

I heard the interview, Jack didn't sound critical, more sympathetic. Jack's still very involved in the industry and from a selfish perspective, having Tiger playing good golf is good for him and everyone else. Half the time Jack's name gets mentioned it's to make a comparison to Tiger and if Tiger's not playing golf, Jack's name might not get mentioned as often.

If I was Tiger, I'd ask to sit down with Jack and get some advice. Jack's been there, he knows how tough it is when your game disappears and how to get it back. I doubt Butch would ever take Tiger back, but I think that would help Tiger if they could mend fences.

Huh?? What does my post have anything to do with hating Tiger? Get over it will ya? If I'm wrong with my assessment tell me.. If I started saying in my swing thread that I've been practicing till my hands bleed I'm sure the first comment will be your grip needs adjusting no?

I've gotten blood blisters during normal play. I forget how, I don't think I was doing anything out of the ordinary, but I definitely believe it happens. I've seen conservatory/professional pianists bleed from playing not doing anything out of the ordinary. If you prick us we do bleed.

I'm sure a whole slew of people will come out and support that it is a good thing to get blood blisters while practicing.. It means he was really working hard.. :). At least that is the context I understood.. Am I right? Basically Tiger was practicing so hard he got blood blisters..

No, it's not good. It hurts. In the press conference, Woods played it down and the reporter bought it up. I don't think it's funny.

Ok, as long as we agree it isn't a good thing he is getting blood blisters practicing.. That's pretty much all I said and I'm getting called a tiger hater and getting examples of pianist getting blisters..

I thought it was relevant. Another profession where the fingers are used daily, calluses have been built up but bleeding occasionally happens.
