Hey lads, I am planning to go to the BMW Championship this year and I was just curious about the camera policy. Hopefully someone with experience can help me out. From what I have read, at nearly all events you can not take any photos what so ever, not even on a smart phone. I fully understand this because of the shutter sounds and everything, but I'm a jackass, so I will probably end up taking pictures on my phone anyway. Does anyone know how heavily this is enforced? I doubt I would get kicked out because most of the marshals are volunteers and I just can't see them doing that. Also, there was a Snapchat live event (younger guys will know) for the PLAYERS Championship with hundreds of photos and videos on it, but the website prohibited camera usage. Therefore, I think it must be pretty easy to get away with. If anyone knows anything, spit it out please. Thanks.

So you admit that you are a Jackass, good luck!

Based on my one PGA experience last year, they'll take your camera upon entry and give it back when you leave. They won't take your cell phone though so just be discreet and you'll be fine. Ps: being discreet means "don't be a jackass"

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Just please, please, please turn off the shutter noise on your phone before you enter the tournament. If you do that and your phone is silent when you take pictures, there should be no problems provided you aren't waving the camera around. I took a number of pictures from the sides of the fairways of pros, along with some videos of their swings on approach shots, with my phone last year when I went to the BMW Championship at Cherry Hills. I turned off all noises and was respectful about it (not waving camera in the air, holding it above my head potentially blocking someone's view, etc.) and didn't hear anything about it.

Go to the practice round and you can take all the pictures you want.

Agree with all of that, that was basically what I was trying capture with the all encompassing "don't be a jackass".

    • Day 139- Slow, swings with short practice club.
    • You might want to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. Yes, it is abrasive, so just wet a sponge and dab it on. It has oxalic acid (no bleach like "Comet" kitchen cleanser), and it works wonders on stainless steel and other metals. Try it on a small area first to see what happens.
    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.
    • I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
