I just set a new personal record

I now have played 27 straight holes using the same ball. If I happen to lose this ball anytime soon, I will have to stop in the middle of my round to perform a eulogy for it

Cool, I kept my ball where I went a couple weeks without changing it.

I still have the ball that I first managed to play for 18 holes. The longest before that I lost off the tee at the 18th hole, probably from the pressure of trying not to lose it.

Congrats on the accomplishment.

Knock on wood but I have gone quite a few rounds on my Top Flite Gamer Tour.   The course I play on does have quite a few holes with trees and then there are others with just plain old woods that nothing is coming out.  If you dare, then maybe some ticks if the ball is important enough to you.  No water to worry about on the front nine so maybe that has its blessings.  One of these days I will have to walk the back side to see if it swallows up my pride n joy.  In the past, I have lost more balls where I see the general area where they land but cannot find them in the rough.  In the fall, it gets frustrating with all the leaves.  I will use the cheaper cheaper balls than my cheaper ones.  I still have to get better on watching them all the way even on the good shots.

I typically retire a ball after a round if it lasts that long.   Scratches, scuffs, worn out surface of the ball can't be trusted considering my ball flight :8) .

I was wondering about that since I have now played 36 holes using the same ball. Maybe I should retire it, yet I am still interested in seeing how long it takes before I loose it, especially seeing how each time I use it I am setting a new record. I'm gonna try to get 72 holes out of it. I'll report back when I loose it.

Don't retire it if you are on a roll.   As soon as I retire one like that, I lose the brand new, just replaced ball on the next hole.  Murphy's law of golf, I tell you. ;-)

I'll play a ball for as long as I keep it, unless it gets really torn up.  Some last four or five rounds, they make up for the ones that wander off into the woods or meet a watery grave on the first hole they're played. :-)

Well the record came to an end today. I played 42 holes of golf using the same ball. I lost that ball today in the water on the 43rd hole played with that ball. My 2 golfing partners and I stopped in order to perform a short eulogy for the ball.

Nice!  I think the longest I went with the same ball was about 24 holes.  I finished an entire round with it, and then later that week, I lost it early on in the round.  I don't remember which hole it was though.

Typically, if I manage to make it through a round with a ball... I'll put it in the 'provisional' part of my bag afterwards.  I like to start rounds with a new ball.  I won't typically replace it during the round unless it's lost or damaged enough to warrant concern.

On bad rounds, I'll lose 4 or 5 balls.  Usually after about a sleeve... I'll start yanking used balls out of my bag to finish up the round with.

How long did it take to lose the ball you just replaced or do you still have it?   With me, Murphy's law of golf makes me lose the (brand new) replaced ball within a hole or two after the previous ball went more than a round without getting lost. :pound:

I still have the replacement ball, but so far I only played 3 holes with it

I played all 18 holes on Wednesday with the same ball in Men's League (and am pretty sure I had used it for part of my round with my Dad on Sunday). I started with it today and used it for the first 10 holes but decided to go to a new ball as I was one under at the time. Its pretty discolored but is in decent shape considering. I'll probably keep it with me for a provisional or a round I'm not playing well.

I've been having a particularly good year with balls. About a month ago I cleaned out my bag and put in one sleeve each of Bridgestone, Callaway, and Titleist balls. When I started a round I played two Bridgestones, used one the whole round and returned one to the sleeve. Then I used 2 Callaway balls, used one the whole round and returned one to the sleeve. Then I used 2 Titleist balls, and you guessed it, used one the whole round and returned one to the sleeve.

Never did that before.

I love this game.
