Playing a practice round for a tournament on Monday, I hit a drive with my Taylormade R11S driver and the head cracked like this. All of my ball marks are center of the face and it is not beat up at all besides the alignment stick marks on the head. It was a warranty club for another driver that cracked on the shaft. The crack has let all the air out of the head and it is dead as a doorknob now. Any advice on how to deal with this or similar situations, I know now I will not have a driver for Monday but my main concern is not getting a replacement. I believe I should because this should not ever crack like this due to striking in the center of the club face. Thanks.

Have seen it in pics before.

Call TM CS, be diplomatic, cordial, explain what happened, that you're a loyal TM guy, and they will probably send you an R15.... but have no expectation. Who knows?

You sure the ball you hit wasn't a convincingly shaped rock?

Weird place to crack. I'd say contact TM, but given the obvious high use, I wouldn't expect much. I sure as hell wouldn't wait to replace it though....especially with a tournament coming up. Replace it tomorrow and you should be good by Monday....

I have called 4 times to review options, I have been very understanding and polite. Two said warranty was up so I was SOL, one guy said I may be able to get it replaced, one gave me his personal email and told me to send pictures.

Not many rocks on a tee box.

That's my doubt. I figure I'll pick up a demo at the course I work at and use it.

Personally, I don't like TaylorMade, if it were me I'd replace it with either a Callaway, Titleist, Ping or Cobra driver

I'm really thinking about just creating my own club and buying single parts for it.

It happened to me about 4 years ago with my R9 driver. Hit a shot dead center club face, but the sound was off and the ball landed about 50 yards short of where I was expecting. I took a closer look at the head and noticed a crack similar to the one in your picture, albeit a bit more subtle.

I had won the club at a charity scramble, so I figured that I was SOL, but I brought it into my local retailer nonetheless. Since I had bought some clubs there previously and knew a few of the sales guys, they offered to send it into TM on my behalf. A few days later, I showed up to pick up my brand new R11s - no strings attached.

I actually work at a course with a Taylormade rep he says that I am SOL.

I'd still contact them anyway, got nothing to lose.

I had the same thing happen to an R11s.  Was warming up at the range one morning before a round and suddenly noticed that impact felt very dead and was making a sickly muted sound rather than the usual loud/sharp 'clank' of the R11s.  I still haven't found the crack, but there's obviously one somewhere on the clubhead.  I never contacted TM about it because I just figured I was SOL - I tossed it in my spare bag in the garage, where it still sits useless.

Hmm, one bad head is a freak accident.   Two reported in this forum?   It's hard to believe b/c I never heard of this type of issue with driver clubhead. Any chance that the clubheads are counterfeits made with lesser material?

To be honest, that club doesn't look well cared for.  If I was a TM rep, I'd have a hard time justifying a free replacement.

This was my first reaction too.  That head is a mess.  I'm not one to worry to much about cosmetic damage, but that driver looks like it never saw a head cover.  Even my Titleist 913 D2 that I bought used looks about 300% better than that.

It's over, that club looks beat to shit, is that blood?

Strange that it cracked though, but chances are it just took too many big blows high up near the crown.

I know you said it's all center hits, but forgive me if I have doubts.

Yes, I would clean up that head before I sen pics to TM.
