Well let me start by saying I normally shoot 91ish on most courses.. I have lots of 3 putts.. chilly dips on chips etc...

I was using a Taylormade Ghost putter...3 putts a few times per round..

My wife got me a custom scotty Futura X putter and I haven't 3 putted in over two months.. This putter feels so good and I have been draining putts from everywhere.. if I don't make the putt I am right next to the hole.

I love this putter it helped my game so much.. I shot two 86 rounds last week. not bad for a an old broken retired GI..

Toby,

Welcome to TST. This is a great site for almost anything about golf.

Congratulation on finding a putter that allows you to reach your Promised Land, Nirvana, or Xanadu . Almost every golfer I know is looking for that driver, set of irons, wedges or putter that will magically allow them to shoot lower scores with a higher level of gratification about their game. But, beware that you take very good care of the golden gift that you have been given.

Gary Player is quoted as talking about Arnold Palmer's putting, "Arnold was such a beautiful driver, such a wonderful putter. I've seen other players who weren't afraid to knock the ball five and six feet past, who trusted themselves to hole those comebackers one after another after another. But none of them could touch Palmer." Than, as I recall reading back in the 1960's or 70's, Arnie lost his favorite putter when going through an airport, and never regained the same putting touch as his earlier days.

I, too, once had a special putter, a Ping Anser 2, that drained many more putts than my average putter. Like you, this putter very seldom ever left me more than a tap-in for my second putt. But, a friend of mine told me how successful he was with a Tiger Shark over-sized putting grip. So, I tried it. Alas, the magic went away. I put a similar grip to the first one back on the putter. The magic did not return. Why, oh why, was I so quick to modify something that had been so successful?  Today, I rotate 4 different putters in and out of my golf bag in my never-ending quest to find my golfing heaven.

I love this game.

Sorry for your loss....

I have not been much of a putter ***** during my golf life... I started golfing when I was 5 with my dad back in Coudersport PA... He got me a Tommy Armor T line putter...don't remember the year...but I used that putter until I bought a new set of Taylormade's.. I thought I needed a new putter so I bought the Nubbins putter... the next one was the Ghost putter....My wife bought me a really nice 2002 Holiday putter from scotty last year and I didn't want to use it because it was so nice... but I needed a change from the Ghost... so she got me the new scotty this year... Wow.. I have never felt more confident when I stand over a putt... Its like I see a painted line on the green for the line I need to take and just putt away... I sure hope that never goes away....
