What's the difference with overrun golf balls vs stock golf balls? I see Golfsmith selling Callaway Tour i(s) overruns for $14.99 a dozen - it seems like a great deal but I am not sure the difference in an overrun. Is it simply cosmetic?

I don't think there is that much difference in the balls especially in the amateur ranks. I have played "x-outs" and "over runs" before and saw no difference in my play. I think for the most part it's a mental thing with most amateur golfers. I prefer a certain brand because I "think" they play better for me around the greens. Yet, when I play a different brand, I score about the same.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

I think the overruns are usually golf balls with logo's on them that weren't purchased for a particular company or tournament and they want to unload them.

" A logo overrun golf ball is a brand new ball that often has some sort of additional imprint as a result of overproduction, typically a name or logo. Often overrun golf balls have no printing on the ball at all. Although brand new, they are typically packaged in bulk containers rather than the original boxes. "

I've bought Pro V1x logo overrun golf balls before at Golfsmith, usually get them for $39.99/dozen.

I like them. Depending on how often I either practice play and/or what I want to try and accomplish on a pitching or sand practice area they work really great. I play them also...most are nothing more than logo' overruns, misprints, bulk orders, etc.
