With announcement of 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees:

David Graham

Mark O'Meara

AW Tillinghast and

Laura Davies

Who else do you think could have been nominated at the same time as these two wonderful gents :

D. Graham and

M. O'Meara

This thread should maybe go under "Tour talk" - sorry.

Criteria would be best players (results wise) to not yet be members of the Golf Hall of Fame. Also players must be >40yrs and have won at least 15 times on the major world golf tours (US, Euro, Australia, Japan, RSA, Asia).

CATEGORIES & CRITERIA
Female Competitors
A player must have a cumulative total of 15 or more official victories on any of the tours with membership in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings (LPGA, Ladies European Tour, Japan LPGA, Korea LPGA and Australia Ladies Professional Golf) OR at least two victories among the following events: U.S. Women’s Open, LPGA Championship, du Maurier Classic (1979-2000), Women’s British Open (2001-current), Kraft Nabisco Championship (1983-current), The Evian Championship (2013-current), Titleholders Championship (1937-1942, 1946-1966, 1972), and the Western Open (1930-1967).
A player must be at least 40 years old at the start of the year in which selections are made (example: A player must have turned 40 years old prior to January 1, 2014 in order to qualify for the Class of 2015), or be at least five years removed from being an active participant (as determined by the Tour) on any of the tours with membership in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Male Competitors
A player must have a cumulative total of 15 or more official victories on any of the original members of the International Federation of PGA Tours (PGA TOUR, European Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Sunshine Tour, Asian Tour and PGA of Australasia) OR at least two victories among the following events: The Masters, THE PLAYERS Championship, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship and the PGA Championship.
A player must be at least 40 years old at the start of the year in which selections are made (example: A player must have turned 40 years old prior to January 1, 2014 in order to qualify for the Class of 2015), or be at least five years removed from being an active participant (as determined by the Tour) on any of the original members of the International Federation of PGA Tours.
Veterans Category
To be considered for selection in the Veterans category a player’s competitive career must have primarily occurred prior to 1980. There is no minimum win criterion. Amateurs and professionals are eligible to be considered in the Veterans category.
Lifetime Achievement Category
To be considered for selection in the Lifetime Achievement category, an individual must have contributed to the game significantly in areas outside of the competitive arena (i.e. administrator, course architect, innovator, instructor, media, etc.).
Individuals may be nominated in the Veterans and Lifetime Achievement Categories by a member of the Selection Sub-Committee.

I meant discuss the criteria. Players are in who do not meet this criteria.

I thought it would help if it were listed in the thread, and this is the first time I have ever read the criteria.. Sounds like it should be an open and shut case, but I think the 16 person committee uses its authority to give exceptions when they want maybe?

Tiger still is the best I have ever seen I am old enough to remember Jack But I did not watch golf back then. Jordan and Rory are pretty good lets see if they can keep it up.

Was wondering how they select between a player like Retief Goosen (2 majors, 7 US, 14 Euro, 3 Asian & 4 RSA wins - counting the majors in both the US and Euro totals) or Padriag Harrington (3 majors, 6 US, 14 Euro wins, 1 Jpn and 2 Asian wins) vs a David Graham (2 majors, 8 US, 4 Euro + a number of Aus & other events)

(All being over 40 yr criteria also).

true... but then again, i can't think of another sport (auto racing excluded) where the participants are still "active and competitive" once they are much past 40... although i personally think it should be an age limit of at least 50, as it is rather silly to be inducting people into the hall of fame while they are still "competitive at the highest level"...

off the top of my head, this would be rather unlikely, as there is a "waiting period" before they are eligible to be elected... for example, there is a 5 year waiting period for the mlb hof, and the possibility of a comeback 5 years after retirement would be zero...
