Currently i'm using really old irons which are standard length, though i have to bend my knees a little more than usual and my upper back more than usual, i used another set of irons which were 2" inches over the standard and they felt too big and awkward, the charts say i should get + 1" clubs but most people say these are too long and 1/2 an inch is long enough, does anyone else have similar stats, and if so what size fits you?

It is a bit more complicated than just height.  Check out the PING fit guide as a starting point. The best approach is to get a fitting from a good fitter.

The standard length varies ... 5i was once 37.5 in the late '90'. For some, the standard is now 38 inches, for others, 37.75 in in a 5i.

What I am trying to say is you need to find someone who will fit you as to length and lie.

I would ignore what people say, and look at what the ball does as to length and lie.

Length not only depends on your height, but also arm length... which is why a true club fitting pro is needed.

Yep. Good points. For me! posture plays a role and the fitter can see. Now my base is wider as I load my quads so I've made several length / lie changes and check the contact on the bottom periodically.
