18 holes never quite seemed like enough for me (especially as I tend to play better as the day progresses). A few summers ago, I would play 36 holes pretty regularly, but this summer,  I found myself completing 36 holes by 12pm. Assuming I have nothing else planned for the day, I started playing 54 after lunch. I also think I play better after lunch since it is a bigger meal, breakfast doesn't quite hold me over. This past weekend Golf was ALL I had planned and I ended up playing 3.5 rounds on Saturday and almost made it through a full 4th round on Sunday before a Thunderstorm forced them to blow the horn

Am I alone here in my compulsion to basically play until I can't play anymore?

How many holes do you typically play in a day?

I can push it to 36 holes if riding a cart but won't be playing the next day. When I was young 36 walking (at the right course) was easily doable.

I could play 36 during the week when I was in school but the courses are too packed on the weekends for me to do it now. I can get in 27 after work on a Tuesday if the place isn't too busy though.

I found myself completing 36 holes by 12pm.

What time do you start, and what pace are you playing? 36 is max for me ...

I don't think I've ever played more than 18 holes on a regulation course. Only on par-3s will I go on and that's only if the course is next to empty.

Maybe using the motor cart would make a difference, but I'd think just keeping the concentration levels up that long would be hard.

I normally tee off at 7am or a little before.walking at that time the first round takes a little over two hours. Second round is a bit slower since more people have teed off, but overall course isn't terribly crowded so pace of play allows the quantity. I'll normally walk two rounds than switch to the cart depending on how my feet feel. In terms of back and legs though no real issues with fatigue

I think you may be the most addicted to playing golf although I suspect there are a few others in this forum.

I can play up to 36 holes in one day.   After that, mentally and physically, I can't play.

I have played 36 in one day a number of times. Sometimes 18 on two different courses. There use to be a tournament where you played as many holes as you could in 10 hours. Low score, and well as most number of holes played in the 10 hour time frame were the two first places given out. 90 +/- holes was usually the winner. Best I could do was 82/385 in the 10 hour time frame. In that tournament, no one waited for anyone.

Something I do quite often is I will play 18 each day for 4 days in a row, walking with my trolley, on the same course. I hardly ever play on friday-sundays.

I find it tough to do multiple 36's during the heat of the Summer here in Houston although I do it at least once a week. So my question to to you is how many rounds a year do you play?

Often on weekends, I'll play 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday but not on the same course. I like to play different courses. I'll play one course in the morning and have lunch and then play another course in the afternoon. I walk during the morning rounds and depending on how hot it gets in the afternoon, I'll walk or ride.

Love doing 36. Usually at the same course cause replays are less expensive. Favorite was Torrey Pines. Hit the north at 6 am . South at about 12:30. Got outta there around 6 ish and was literally on a golf high.

I've done 36 a few times, but I'm always exhausted afterwards. Courses are so hilly here.

I apologize for having a spam URL in my signature and will not do it again.

Boy do you sound familiar! Now I go until my knee(s) tell me to stop. Always had a lot of energy. I often play 36 at two different courses I was a member of, or just run through through the same course if it's all you can play. I've played, everyday this week with two 27's thrown in. My pro friend, coach, course director stopped me from playing further Wednesday to rest, I was limping a little, so I could rest for league as we're playing well with playoffs coming. Not long out of surgeries but I am compulsed to play. Surgeon says I'm doing great but honestly, I plan my day what I'm going to practice and/or play. Healthy thinking??? I wonder sometimes. On top of that, I umpire in the evening. And I'm not a spring chicken. :-\

Walking 27 and with cart 36 are my limits, if I want to play the next day. If not, I'm more limited by time. I played almost before sunup to after sundown except for one 2 hour meeting, so 12 hours of playing. Forgot to count holes that day. Family and work limit my time. . .
