Tiger Woods Rise and Fall Video

One of the investigative journalists says "for 13 years Tiger was able to dictate what the media wrote about him" He also discussed how he didn't follow up with club owners and other promotors who called him and told him that Tiger was there with a woman that is his not his wife because he didn't want to lose access to a whole bunch of other sports figures if he wrote that kind of story about Tiger.. A piece of information I didn't know that Tiger was at a beach house having sex with a cocktail waitress when he got the phone call that his dad passed away.. The rise was certainly magnificent, but the fall was just as steep as the climb.. Although, one would argue that the fall in golf might be even worst if he continues doing what he is doing..

Alright, I'll say it a different way then. I watched its intirity but it's nothing more than a repeat of a show I watched at the time of airing that perhaps some have not watched. I believe in shows TW's early structured development through living his fathers ideologies, facing racial barriers, and mental programming yet at a young age witnessing errors in two male strong figures that were developing his life re: women. The careful crafting of the TW brand, products, etc through managing conglomerates just piled on, IMO. After his fathers death who he carefully abided by, left him unprotected. His compensatory acting out after marriage was absolutely prone to crash as we've seen. More may be revealed as with other stars. It was just a matter of time. The pressure must have been a tremendous load to bear. There is nothing juvenile about calling one out. Although it may be contrary to what one may be desiring as a response. One chooses the behavior they must consider the consequence. Finally, I have always believed Tiger is not at fault for his though processes that was hammered into him since he was small and paraded on the Mike Douglas show. But he is responsible for his actions now as an adult.

Was that Tiger or was that the company who ran the PR side of things for him?

If IMG comes and says, "we can keep all the questions to favor you", what do you think Tiger would say to that? Who wants media going after him.

As for the video. I found it interesting, but I really don't care. So what if he lived the high life, or was unfaithful to his wife. No one is perfect. I think America holds athletes to a stupid higher standard. Like they have to be this golden boy image they must live by.

Honestly there is no way to tell if a lot of the stuff said in the video was actually true. Was Tiger really with a woman when his father died? Does it even matter? Earl Woods died of a heart attack, which are usually sudden and unpredictable. It wasn't like Tiger knew his father was going to pass away and decided not to be with his father in his last moments.

I think the video overdramatized a lot of what went on.

Can anyone provide some background context for this video? Who made it, etc.? I won't have a chance to watch it for awhile and hadn't heard anything about it until now.

I don't know much about channel 4, and I would assume their motivation is to get ratings maybe? I don't know.

I think it was pretty well done and informative overall -- I also think it did a great job of humanizing Tiger, which is a simple (but very important) concept that seems to often get lost with the public's fascination of our sports heros and celebrities.

I'll be the first to admit that if I had Tiger's resources, the roof would have come tumbling down a lot earlier than it did for him.......I too am a flawed individual.....and I am not afraid or embarrassed to admit it.  For those of you "holier than thou" folks that are not so flawed, I will say that you should feel blessed that you don't deal with some of the internal struggles that compel some of the rest of us that engage in what you would consider less than appropriate conduct.  It is not always just as easy as making good decisions.

On another note, the thought of Tiger hitting long irons with Earl standing twenty or so yards in front of him and Tiger just missing him to the left or right on every shot -- jfc, that is just crazy.

I watched the hour long video. I found it to be overly dramatic and a bit on the sensational side.

I did not care if he cheated on his wife and I did not care for the national enquirer type information.

Yes he put forth a squeaky clean, family man image and probably was slightly opposite of that. However I have to imagine that many golfers or pro athletes are similar.

What I did find fascinating was his upbrining and how his father molded him (brain washed) into being a machine.

I get the sense that he was created to be a golfer and without golf has no idea what to be.

It's a very interesting story. I disagree with some aspects of it....I think it takes factual information, but spins it into certain theories and interpretations (i.e., Tiger was "hypnotized" or "isolated") which aren't proven or even well argued.

It also stops before the point at which I think the real story of Tiger becomes interesting: the collapse of his golf game.

But it's worth watching. Lots of good interviews, some new information we hadn't heard before. Much of it is typical sensationalist, yellow journalism, but it is still interesting to watch.
