What's the farthest you have hooked or sliced?

what is the farthest you think you have hooked or sliced a golf ball, with any club. the other day i was hitting pretty well had my swing fairly figured out if i do say so myself ( at the range mind you) and then a person walked by who i thought i should impress a little bit. Swung way to fast and sliced a ball around 125 yards off target, and it probably only traveled maybe 160...with driver of course. i think that was by far the farthest right i have hit a ball in a long time.

what about you guys? farthest slice or hook?

Far enough that I couldn't find them for measurement. :-P

farthest slice or hook?

Mine usually hit something and don't realize their full potential.  Of the ones I have found, probably far side of the parallel fairway - 50 yards or so.

I once was playing with a couple guys I joined on the 1st tee.  On one hole, one of the guys sliced his ball over a very large pond and swamp area  on #7 on to dry land in the rough on #2.  Easily 200 yards away and probably a 400 yard walk around the hazard.  He didn't follow the ball's flight and thought it was lost.  I had tracked it and told him where is was. He eventually got there and hit it back into play.

I'm pretty sure I hit a 265 yard pull hook into the desert today.. The desert sucks when you have to play your ball out of it.. No quick sand though :)

I've hit a +50 yd slice about 240 yds. into an adjacent fairway. fortunately it was on a short par 5 and I managed to get back and par the hole.

I've sliced across an another fairway into the rough, that will happen when you line up for a draw but hit a big slice instead those are the worst misses.

I can't recall. But last year's farthest mishit was about 50yds hook.

A long time ago, when I used to swing as hard as I could (why not), I hit a slice from my tee box over two adjacent fairways into a 4th fairway. Maybe only 150-200 yards offline, but that was impressive. Had a good laugh about it. No idea what I did with the shot after that. Not even sure if it was on the same 9.

I have hit a hook that started 30 yards right of the fairway and ended in the left rough

You guys are weak......a few weekends ago i hit a push fade with a 5 iron that started probably 20 degrees right and just kept going right.....it was on a par 3. I was about 10yds short of the front of the green and about 70yds right of the green. Naturally i hit a 3/4 sand wedge from there to about 10ft and made the putt for a par....routine par. I have hooked drivers at least 100yds off line before.........

So you're average roll is only 5 yards? You must hit it high. I've always heard that (pending conditions obviously) your average roll amount on driver is about 10 percent of carry if it lands in the fairway.

You can't really read it this way, as the readings are averages which include severe mishits or offline shots. I duffed a two shots to 181 and 196, so the average of the 10 shots was brought down to 239.7. On the course, I hit trees and go "lateral" enough times to bring down the average drive to 245. Drive distance is not really that important to me at this point in my game. I'm more concerned about knowing my iron distances. When I am more accurate, a real average might make some sense for me.

Very unreliable as the entire face of my driver is fully utilized :-D :

Simulator results to nearest mph: 236, 241, 265, 251, 181, 261, 248, 196, 248, 270

Average on course: 245, shortest is 120, longest is 308.

OK THAT makes sense. I agree that precision with iron distance is more important but still it is tough to determine your "expected" iron shot if your average includes mishits.

I agree that the severe mishits should probably be avoided, getting my swing to avoid making them is another thing.

They are ignored for my shot zone estimates, per page 146 in LSW.

It's been quite a while, but I have hit some hooks that got up into a right to left  wind that went completely off the course and on to the roof of a house. The house was across the street from house's back yard that was bordered the fairway.  Since the back yard, nearest the fairway had a pool, we declared it a lateral hazard, dropped, and played on.

    • Here's the bet. Assuming the pursuit of a Tour card holds, who wins their first Tour event? Charlie, or this Russell kid? Bet is off if Miles Russell signs with LIV.
    • It seems like too much work for me. I'm actually surprised at myself for spending as much time on this as I already have. Shot Scope tells me my shots to finish with a 7i is 0.1 better than with my 50 or 55 so I'm just going to go with it. Actually, I tend to be the complete opposite. I've never faced a shot I'm convinced I can't hit. It leads to great heroics and complete flops. Conservative for me might just be someone else's normal.
    • Tell me you've not seen Bill play without telling me you've not seen Bill play? 😄 Just teasing @billchao. 😄
    • And like Matt said, and I have hinted at… it's ONE ROUND. Because you have to get hot. Better players than him failed to get through. And… Peaked too soon, perhaps. He could also get injured, get surpassed, lose interest or lose his game… Again, if I trusted y'all to uphold the bet, and if the bet wasn't basically a 15-year proposition… I'd bet y'all. The odds are against him, and heavily so. So… he didn't qualify, and he's playing on a sponsor's exemption. Jordan Spieth was 16 years old when he tied for 16th in a PGA Tour event… and I realize that mentioning Jordan Spieth (who has obviously had a lot of success) seems to argue against my point, but Spieth is the exception and he did better at only a year older than this fella. The odds are strongly against him.
