    • Yea, I think it's kinda funny, doesn't hurt the game. Golf is too serious anyway.

    • Nay, the people that yell aren't really fans and should be kicked out.

What I think the baba booey person thinks;  "Look at me I just yelled "Baba Booey" right after someone hit a golf ball, I yelled it really loud.  Aren't I really cool, I'm in the in/hip crowd."  Or maybe they just do it to be annoying.

From what I know of Stern, he probably thought it would be really annoying to the players and some other spectators if his fans would yell baba booey at golf tournaments.  And if you annoy people, it's funny.

What I think about someone that yells baba booey; "you're just a show-off and an idiot.  That got really old 25 years ago."

It's pretty lame at this point. If I were standing in the gallery and a dude near me was incessantly shouting "Baba Booey" I'd be inclined to dump a beer over his head.

I think Stern is a giant douche, and I think yelling "Baba-Booey" at a golf tournament is even douchier.  It ranks right up there with the other nozzles yelling "Mashed potatoes!", "You da man!", "Get in the hole!" (on a par 5 tee shot, no less), etc.  There's nothing funny or socially redeeming about it and the asshats who do it should be immediately ejected from the premises.

Maybe next post I'll dispense with the subtlety and tell you how I really feel about it. :-D

This all started as a joke to get people to yell it on live tv, any live tv would do. Why it has stuck with the PGA is anyone's guess. I might be in the minority but the silly calls from the gallery after a shot bring a nice dose of brevity to pro golf, which can be far too serious for its own good sometimes. When watching Thursday golf and all 3 pros tee off to within feet of each other hearing someone yell "Mashed potatoes!" Is welcome in my opinion. Golf should be fun, for everyone, and even though I think Baba Booey at the PGA is well outside of Stern's influence at this point (I listen to the show regularly and I can't recall the last time they played a PGA sound bite) I hope it sticks around in the lexicon for a long while along with the rest of the nonsense people yell.

I'm no prude and the farthest thing from an old fuddy duddy, but yelling something stupid after a golf shot pisses me off. Been to a few events, never seen it happen in person but if I have a few beers in me, you don't want to be the guy next to me doing it.

Don't sell yourself short Gunther, you're a tremendous fuddy duddy! :-) I wholeheartedly agree with you. I would not resort to violence, but I guarantee that I can be louder than this guy. I would yell right in his ear to "Shut the f**k up" unless there were kids around. I would clean it up then. I have a very powerful voice.

yelling stupid things at golf tournaments is just an American thing that's not going anywhere - almost a tradition.   Don't have that problem in Europe or elsewhere.     Cracks me up to hear the guys that yell IN THE HOLE on a 610 yd par 5 !!

Or are you both just joking around?

He is disturbing not only the players, but the fans around him who did not pay money to hear him act like a buffoon. It is not a football stadium. It is a golf course.

I listened to the James Taylor concert on XM from New York, and people were screaming bababooey after every song. Taylor handled it excellently, but I'm sure you don't go to one of his concerts expecting that. Maybe, except in New York.

So, you would yell under what authority? Seems to me like you would be overstepping your boundary. I would think the proper action would be to call over someone with an official capacity to deal with it.. Your example of the movie theater is perfect.. Someone from the theater would come and kick them out.. Let's look at it another way.. You yell at him and he says shut the f* up.. You have two choices now, you either yell back and eventually both of you will be kicked or you stay quite and you were just insulted for no reason, or the 3rd option which is you both start fighting and no one wins.. I think yelling at him in any capacity would be an extremely naive thing to do, with unintended consequences to potentially follow.. And for what??

if anything I've learned, its not usually the instigator that gets punished, its the retaliator. Probably not fair, but true.

It's not even about getting punished.. Why escalate a situation when there is no need? Are these tournaments throwing these people out? If not, then what gives people the right to yell at or dump a beer on that person as was mentioned earlier ? Heck maybe people are just joking around about what they would do, but at least one person confirmed he wasn't joking about yelling at the guy. I for one would probably just think what an idiot and if he is bothering me his walk away to a place where he isn't there..

i think that the course marshalls should be equipped with tasers, and be given the instruction if some fool decides to yell any of the things that we have (sadly) become accustomed to hearing, tase them with impunity... it wouldn't take long to make it stop... a few highly reported tasings would get people's attenton... :-)

Ya then someone would possibly die and it'd be a whole news extravaganza, listen to yourselves(people who want to retaliate)  what gives you the right to tell others what to do or not to do. So what these guys are yelling after tee shots obviously the ruling officials don't care because it happens all the time at every event. If people are paying to be there and its not said during a shot then what is really the harm that is done lighten up people and remove whatever is blocking your backside up. Jeez... Now that guy firing off the air cannon during ZJ's putt that's crossing the line, people yelling on the tee box is just harmless fun.

    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).
    • Wordle 1,003 3/6 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩   felt a little like Wyndham when the first three green and I began the fist pump…
    • I'm relieved someone finally defined hiking. I was giddy when I saw these new TPI videos a day or so after they dropped. Very easy to understand the problem and solution the way they have presented it. Been working on fixing this for about a year and a half now. It's nice to be able to call it something so communication becomes easy.  I was working on more lateral and up too, but just having someone define it clearly in video form was so helpful for me to continue confidently with what I thought was wrong and how I had to fix it.  My conceptual error here was just trying to rotate like a tour pro but without including the necessary forward pressure/weight shift associated with enough lateral and upward motion of the pelvis.  This video is great too, as is Greg Rose.
    • Day 2.    couple mins of rolling putts end over end.    10 mins of Slow, mirror work, working on starting the downswing and impact wrist positions. Hit a couple balls into the net after.    Then finished with a couple chips to see if I could repeat what I worked on yesterday.
