Why am I hitting TaylorMade Aeroburner much farther?

The question is can you hit them off the fairway and tee on the course as far as you did in the store.

I'm pretty sure Dustin Johnson had an Aeroburner driver and fairway wood in his bag for a while, I'm not sure what he's using now.

Why don't pros play this club? They place the TP and the R15?  I haven't tried either

They do but it is the TP version. It has more of a "compact" look that they like and I think it reduces spin more than the standard version.

I'm hitting my new AeroBurner 5W farther than I do my Mizuno 3W (and that's real play on the course).  I'm waiting now on delivery of a set (4I-GW) of fitted AeroBurner irons that were shipped on Friday.  If, when I get on the course, I'm within 20 yards of the launch monitor numbers I'll be 2½ clubs longer than I am with my AP-2's.

Today's clubs are all sorts of crazy with effective lofts produced by CG location, and shaft combinations. I bet that 5 wood probably launches the ball near or lower than a 3-wood.

Like @saevel25 said, CG location is important. The 5W going farther is more common than you think, especially with TaylorMade RocketBallz/AeroBurner woods and if you don't have a "fast" swing speed.

My new sticks arrived this afternoon, so tomorrow morning is the test.

Obviously at 68 I don't have a high swing speed, but I never really did.  Even in my prime I was only about 95 - 100 mph with the driver.  I did measure 108 mph once on a monitor, but I had to just about come out of my socks to make that.  I could never swing that hard on the course.

That's great, AeroBurners are definitely long.  I was referring to the difference in wood shapes.  Some are better designed to hit off the turf than others and vary by individual and their swing.  When Adams first introduced the Tight Lies, it made hitting a 3w off the ground much easier because of how the sole was designed.

I won an AeroBurner in a raffle at a Tourney on Memorial Day. I liked it so much, not only did I make it a permanent addition to my bag, but I also went and bought the 3w.

My 3w AeroBurner is my favorite club in my bag.  I love the sound it makes and the ball flight it generate on good shots.  I think it looks awesome too.

I beleive TM burner woods and such (RBZ) are so forgiving and easy we are long hitters with them.

had 2 sets of burners, now the RBZ2s.

I tryed other stuff, not bad just never great and easy.

the only one that marked my mind was a ben hogan CS53 long time ago, probably for the adilda NV shaft

Agree with @mvmac re: swing speeds and @bubble re: TT RBZ Stage 2. Basically hit my 5w after tweaking into par 5's in lieu of the 3w now. Save the 3 for really long approach runners/cuts into greens. A little OT but speaks to ease of club use, set up, etc. Email last evening from course marshal I play with with wicked slice. Set him up a temp fix with my practice club but he really needs a swing ADJUSTMENT. Hard tight course with tall rough. "Hey Lefty ! Hope you had a good day. Just to let you know, played back nine (Cahoon) and was 6 for 6 in the fairway with your driver. Hope to see you tomorrow or Wed a.m. Appreciate use of driver. Still small fade but dramatic reduction in slice and pretty long. If I can, I would like to use it this week and I will take care of it for sure. Thank you, Lefty (George)" FWIW

Heading out in a few minutes for 9 holes with the new irons.  I'll report back on the results later.  Just practice swinging last night in the yard felt really good.
