Which hockey players would you want to play golf with?

Okay, as many of you probably know, hockey players have reputations for being very good golfers. Which hockey player(s) would you like to play with most/ Which hockey player(s) do you think are the best golfers?

Rick DiPietro, G, NYI- Simply my favorite player. He manages to be one of the most competetive players in the league, while, at the same time, be one of the classiest. The other day I was reading a first hand account from a sabres fan about how, in buffalo, he spent upwards of 2 hours talking to and signing autographs (sign said one per person, he signed everything) of people who weren't even fans of his team! I mean, he must've known that these were going straight to ebay, but he did it anyways :P. But I digress, this guy has went to Shea more than once, and has reportedly (according to Mets players) hit multiple home runs. Simply put, he is a natural born athlete (the most athletic goalie in the NHL, imo). Then there is the fact that I know from interviews and the like that during the off season, all he does is play golf. So, natural athleticism+favorite player+tons of practice= player who I'd most like to play a round of golf with AND who would probably be one of the best.

Marc-Andre Bergeron, D, NYI- As a defenseman, he is abysmal, but he has to have a wicked drive. He winds up his slapshot more than anyone in the league, and if he can hit the puck (sometimes even on net!) at 100 mph while being as small as he is, well, you can only imagine how far and accurate he can hit the ball.

Mark Parrish, W, MIN- Basically the same reasons as DiPietro. He was sort of like Tom Glavine in that he could've went the route of pro baseball if he wanted to, but unlike Glavine chose hockey. I saw a video last year of him blasting them out of the park. Now, there was a crowd around DiPietro taking practice, but the whole team came to see Parrish hit. So he as well is a natural athlete. Like DiPietro, he must also be good at sports where you address the ball from a sideways position (facing the ball, i.e. batter in baseball, hockey, golf), maybe even better DiPietro. I can see him a being a stellar golfer (maybe even better than he's been at hockey the past 2 years; that's what you get for leaving long island!)

Mario! Why, because I love the Pens even when they had those nasty assed uni's back in the 70's. I can remember watching the news seeing this ugly assed team and wanting to go see... my pops as everyone would say. We watch the steelers! LOL

Wayne, the greatest ever!

Jeremy Roenick, he lived about 4 miles from me (when he played here for the Flyers)and I know people that hung with him, he's way cool.

OH, almost forgot I just about golfed with Bernie Parant, he was int he 4some in front of me on several occasions! LOL

Here in Alaska Scott Gomez (NYR #19) held a celebrity tournament, and he brought up some famous hockey players. In the tournament each 4-some got to play with one of the people for 9 of their holes. I was playing in this tournament in place of my mom because she ended up having to go back to work. But my group got assigned to play with Richard Matvichuck, on a 450 yard par five Richard was 130 yards out (he played the Callaway FT-i). Also in that tournament I had the best sand shot in my life, with a local news camera filming me , but back to the shot. I pushed my approach shot into a green-side bunker, and then when I hit it out of the sand, it was perfect, tracking to the hole, and BANG, it goes into the hole and my birdie went down on the scorecard. Boy did that make me feel good . Later I got interviewed by the news channel and they asked me about that, my interview was shown on the news later that night.

1st choice would be Brett Hull. he was my favorite player growing up.

2nd choice would have to be the great one.

3rd choice would grant fuhr.

Hockey players? I don't know... nobody really stands out. Would enjoy playing with some of the all time greats, Mario, Wayne, Orr, etc. However, starting with Ed Belfour wouldn't be a bad idea. And I'm not kidding... Maybe he'll bet me one billion dollars.

Mario would be my first choice. I am a long time Pens fan, he is a great down to earth guy, and a natural athlete. Oh, and BTW he has hosted a charity tournament since the early/mid 90's. I could try and hit him up for some tickets

And a'la Chuck Norris facts: One time, Mario Lemieux played an 18-hole round of golf and shot a 14.

I'm gonna go with current Penguin - Maxime Talbot. He does poker tournaments and other random things off the rink, so I could only imagine that golfing w/ him would be a riot.

I'm a Canadiens fan, so it would be:

1. Guy Lafleur
2. Ken Dryden
3. Larry Robinson

They were my favorites when I was a young kid in the 70's. I would love to talk to them about all of their Cups they won in the 70's, and they all seem like decent guys. I here Guy can throw them back pretty good. As a side note, Dryden is now a federal politician up here in Canada now, a very cerebral guy who quit hockey in his prime to practice law.

As for best hockey players when it comes to golf: Brett Hull has game and was featured on the Golf Channel Academy a few years back, Grant Fuhr has tried a few times, and come pretty close to qualifying for the Canadian Tour, and Mario is a player. There's an ex NHL'er who wins on the Celebrity Tour a lot, Dan Quinn. But yes, a lot of hockey players are pretty decent golfers.

Wayne and Mario would be my picks. You could throw in a Hull to round out the foursome, no problem.
