Anyone ever film their golf rounds before? Any point in doing so?

I think it would be a great idea and I have wanted to do it for a while. Hopefully to learn why I hit that pull hook or hit a big fade. Maybe see why I chunk one etc.

Using something like Game Golf or Arccos is more worthwhile IMO. You see exactly what you did on the course and it tracks stats. I only need to see my swing when an instructor is giving me feedback.

I think doing a video of my rounds would be too distracting. Plus I'd feel inhibited. I like to talk in between shots, and make commentary after shots. Game Golf can be distracting enough. For me, right now these gadgets provide too much information and are distracting. Even with Game Golf you can get too preoccupied with your club distance average and not playing golf. So I'm thinking its best to leave these gadgets for the more advanced player. Those of us with higher handicaps need to keep things as simple as possible and focus on having fun.

1) Your instructor is going to show you how to make a correct golf swing.

2) Practice that swing at the driving range.

3) Make that same swing on the golf course.

4) DO NOT make any small adjustments in your swing on the golf course. Trying to fix things will kill your round.

When I take a lesson, my instructor takes a video. That's good enough for me. I can see what I'm doing. He has a GC2. I can see my ball flight there. I can get the carry distance for the club. He can set up a target for me. I can see how far off line I'm hitting the ball.

    • Ok, it's been a while, but I finally got the 18th hole! It was the only one left over from last year and it took 14 months, but I got it today. It is a slight dogleg right, plays 425 up to an elevated green into the prevailing wind. Playing slightly up, I hit driver and had about 160 into the green. Hit 6 iron to 4 feet and with a straight uphill putt made it center cut! Now I can stop thinking about that hole!  All I have left this year is 5, 15, and 17.  Let's Go!
    • He’s just tired of fighting. And being asked. And just tired.
    • Yeah, that's what most of the guys there were saying. I'm guessing they weren't able to cut them due to all the rain. Or maybe they are growing really fast and since we tee'd off at 6PM... 😜
    • Frankly, one could be forgiven for thinking there was some truth to the rumor as seemed like he was laying the groundwork for a while with his softened stance on LIV.
    • Well, Rory nipped those rumors in the bud: Rory McIlroy: 'I'll play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career' - world number two dismisses LIV Golf link Rory McIlroy says he will play on the PGA Tour "for the rest of my career" as he quashes rumours of him making a big-money move to LIV Golf. I suppose you never know, but it's a stark contrast from how, for example, Cam Smith handled the rumors. Feeling much better about this today.
