I actually liked some of the points Haney made. He really never went into Jason's swing, but more of the little things he does outside the swing to get ready to hit the ball.

1) Use an intermediate target. I like this tip a lot. Also, I like how Hank states about where you want to start the ball over. I think this is a great way to get people to think about start lines instead of target oriented.

2) Use a driver with more loft. I absolutely agree. Gone are the days of high spinning golf balls and low lofted drivers. Get fitted, loft up, hit it longer. Many of the longest hitters on tour are using drivers set at above 10 degrees of loft.

3) Tee the ball up higher. I would add move it forward as well. Hit up and hit it further.

4) Waggle to rehearse and relax. Depends on the waggle. Some movements could be bad. Like I use to waggle where I would actually tip towards the target. Not the motion I want. So I had to change that a bit. I do like to feel like I am moving around a bit instead of just standing over the ball trying to be still. Rarely do I see a good shot from golfers who just stand still. Most of the time you can just see the tension building.

Agree, except for the lofted up in all drivers. Maybe if you use that fantastic SLDR driver where most people need an amazing 16 degrees of loft to spin it... lol.

But otherwise, if you use a Callaway, I've gone from 12.5 in an Adams 4 years ago, and 12.5 in an R1 2 years ago, to a 9 degree in the V Series, 9.5 in an 815, and 9 degrees in the new GBB. They are lighter driver heads with low spin design that launch high, with mid spin, mid launch shafts (and other shafts).

Admittedly, my swing and speed have improved from 78, 82, to 95-99 over 4 years. So I do not need as much loft. And even with 9 and a positive  4 deg AOA, I still hit a high ball, which I know is partly a swing flaw. Working on it in amazing fashion - lol.

So, loft depends on the head design, speed, shaft, set up, AOA and other factors.

Hank probably uses a SLDR, so he assumes everyone must loft up.

I believe Hank was talking about the people who play sub 9.0 degree drivers. Back in the day I use to play a 8.5 Titliest 975 D.

Note I put in my comments, get fitted ;)

I have a 2014 BB 10.5 degree. I've played around with the loft settings. It can go from 9.5 - 12.5. When I first got it I had it set at 12.5 degrees. As my swing speed improved, and I shortened the shaft on it by 1", it needed some adjusting. 9.5 was too low. 10.5 was too low. 12.5 was too high and didn't have enough roll out. and 11.5 was just right, even with a 95-96 mph SS.

This is a good checklist.

Assuming what driver we have is what it's supposed to be. Only my hand picked component driver's are close within .5 +/-. I have a 10.5 588 that looks more like my 12.5 GEEK at address. My 10.5 GEEK looks pretty flat and it is truly 10.5. I had to get away from the adjustable hosel drivers they never looked right at address.

As another has said back in the day I played a Titleist 975D 9* driver also you got looks back then if you played anything more that a 101/2* driver...In fact few drivers were produced in 12*...Those days drivers were about 175 cci's in volume...very difficult to hit compared to todays toasters we are playing...

"Eliminate your big miss." Boy am I tired of hearing that. Every radio show caller gets that from him. It's like the old SNL skit with the therapist who would just say "have you looked at yourself?" My big miss? What, for today? Or yesterday or tomorrow? Last week I was pushing every shot. Yesterday it was the fats. Today I'm hitting a big draw. Tomorrow I'm guessing the thins will settle in nicely. Hank seems to be only talking to 5 or less hcp golfers. Those golfers may have a "miss" but for me and many others it's an open field from day to day or week to week. He's a bit of a tool I feel.

It's all marketing, he wants people to believe you can eliminate your big miss and gain distance. Even with one on one instruction it would take time and effort to change the golfer he's implying could be "fixed" by watching his vids. But he's not the only one guilty of peddling quick fix golf.

Jason Day's swing is basically perfect. Almost like a Tiger 2008 swing.

If I had to nit pick a bit. I think he gets a tad later hip slide on the backswing. His head also dips back and away from the target a tad on his down swing.

I still use a Taylormade 360Ti 9.5°... Love the driver, but I know I need to update. I wonder how much farther I would hit the ball with a new driver.

off center hits?  a lot.  a dead perfect sweet spot hit might not be that different.

His swing is perfection, and just like every good player makes it look so easy, why can't I do that? because it's not so easy.

I like the Hank points, good stuff, but sadly there is so much more to a good driver swing that I kind of take it lightly, I wish it were so simple that a few tips would really help.
