I started the 2007 season at 5.2 USGA index
I ended the 2007 season at 3.7 USGA index
Overall I am happy. I did not get to the chipping level I was shooting for, but the new irons really came through.

I don't have an official handicap, I'm going to work on that next year.

This year my first 8 rounds were high 90's and low 100's, all of the rest of my rounds since then have been mid to high 80's and a couple of low 90's, So I took off about 10 strokes, give or take.

Not done for the year yet, but I started at a 28(IIRC) and am down to an 11.6 now. Very happy, and I'm still probably going to drop a few more strokes, hopefully into single digits by the end of the year.

I'm still on the same handicap I was at the start of the year (4.4 - 4.2 at the moment..), but I have learnt alot this year and feel that I my game has dramatically improved, both in swing and mental game...Still kind of sucks that the handicap hasn't really moved much this year except up/down/up/down...Oh wells..

20 at the start
14 today

Got tired of really playing worse than I thought I was capable in late June, got fitted for clubs, practiced as much as possible, and cut 6 strokes by the start of November. Hopefully much more progress next year.

No official handicap this year, but I went from a total hack who averaged 105 per round (with cheating, shaving strokes, and so on - so more like 125 on an honest scorecard) to a low of 11.9 handicap. Hacked it up recently and I'm up to 14.5, I think. Still not bad considering how much I'd improved, shaving, oh, about forty strokes off my game.

That is very impressive!

I started about 15.5, wandered upwards to 17.8 or so, got a couple lessons, and now I'm at 12.3. If the weather holds out for a couple more weeks I'm betting I'll break into the 11s, though I think single digits will have to wait for next year.

I went from 25 (iirc) to 20.5. I really wanted to crack the teens, but I'm happy with the improvement.

From when i started 3 years ago per year i have gone 36 to 18 in year one, 18 too 10 in year 2, and 10 to 5.4 in year three, i have not played as well in compitions this year, but as a result have learnt an awful lot more than i would of playing well, next year is my last year as a junior and feel it could be a very succesful year.

After playing about 5 times a year maximum for the last 3 years I really got back into golf for the last 2-3 months of the season. I had a handicap of 9.3 and I have gotten it down to 8.3 playing some decent stuff. Hopefully if I re-dedicate myself as I plan to I can get down to around 5 next season.

If this weekend turns out to have been qualifying I shallbe down to around 7.7/7.9 depending on SSS

Started out this year at 28 and am now at 5.8. I've been playing for one year and two weeks. Started the middle of last October. I do play quite a bit though. I play at least 2 rounds of 18 a week and at least 2 rounds of 9. I got the bug pretty bad. I initially went down to 21 sometime in March, then went down to a 13 and then to a 10 the month before last and now to a 5.8 which I'm pretty thrilled with. My goal now is to learn to putt.

New attitude, new driver, new game improvement irons resulted in starting the year at around 12 and ending the year at my current index of 6.3.

Previous 5 years had me pegged between 12 and 14 so this year was a breakthrough year.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
    • Day 283: Putted on my mat for a while watching an NLU video. Worked on keeping my head still primarily, and then making sure my bead is okay.
