My golf trip to Dallas, TX is coming up in like 2 weeks. I would like to have some Mizuno MP 60's fit for me. Can anybody recommend a good club fitter in the area? I will be staying right next to the Dallas Cowboys Golf Club and will be using taxi's/hotel transport, so the closer the better.

The club fitters up here in Fargo, ND are not that great, especially for Mizuno irons. So I figured I could get much better results down south where golf happens much more out of the year than in ND. By the way, we got 7.4 inches of snow today...BOOOO!!!

Well, I don't know if it's really the sort of thing you're looking for, but there is a PGA Tour Superstore in Plano (just off HWY 75) and maybe also in Frisco. (I think the Plano location is bigger.) They definitely fit Mizuno products; I bought a CLK Fli Hi there a couple of months ago. They don't have any outdoor facilities, but if you're set on the MP-60s, you may not care to do it indoors. It wouldn't be a ridiculous trip from Grapevine. And even if the giant box scene/atmosphere isn't what you're looking for in a fitting session, it's a hell of a lot of fun just to walk around that place.

I've never been fitted before. I would like to be fitted outside, but its definitely not a must. If I can get on a launch monitor with a professional that knows what he/she is doing, then I would be just fine with that.

Also, Im not completely set on the MP 60's. Im torn between the 60's and the 67's. As far as shafts go, I would like to go with Project X 6.0. Again, the ending decision will most likely be what Im fitted for.

Also, I will be using either the hotel transportation or taxis to get from point to point. Im guessing a taxi ride to Plano would be ridiculously expensive? Any suggestions?

There is a place called the practicetee, ( www.thepracticetee.com ). Its about 20 miles from cowboys......I've never been fitted, but ive heard from a couple people they do a decent job, plus its outside. Might be worth a look at....

Its gonna get real expensive real quick w/ the taxis. Do you know anybody at all around the area that could give you a ride?

Yes, the taxi expense from your hotel to Plano would be exorbitant; you could nearly rent a car for the amount it would cost you to get there and back.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. I don't live in the Metroplex; my brother lives in Plano, and I've spent some time there with him. I hope some DFW guys can help. Good luck, and enjoy your trip. (My brother played the Cowboys course a few weeks ago and really liked it.)

Been to both, it's like a Cosco for golf.

I live in Flower Mound which is just north of Grapevine. The closest place I can think of would be Golf Galaxy in Lewisville - it's about 5 miles away. I haven't been fitted there, but I've shopped there and the guys I've dealt with (including the manager) seem knowledgeable. And I know they carry Mizuno because I got my wedges there. There's also a Hank Haney Golf Ranch in Lewisville. I've only been there once and I'm not sure if they do fittings, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. And of course the pro shop at the Cowboys course might do fittings too.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
