With one-third of his season complete, will Tampa Bay Lightening centre Vincent Lecavalier hold-off Sidney Crosby et al. to win the Art Ross trophy in 2007-2008?

The contenders:
Lecavalier - 42 points in 27 games (1.56 points per game),
Ilya Kovalchuk - 37 points in 26 games (1.42 ppg),
Daniel Alfredsson - 37 points in 25 games (1.48 ppg),
Henrik Zetterberg - 37 points in 27 games (1.37 ppg),
Sidney Crosby - 37 points in 26 games (1.42 ppg).

Crosby had a good game last night - his first in Western Canada, in Gretz's old place, no less - and led the Penguins' comeback against the Oilers with 3 assists.

I think either vinny or alfredson is going to get it. When the senator's offense is hot, they can't be stopped.

Being a Detroit guy I want to say Henrik Zetterberg, but I think the Wings are too deep to allow him the kind of ice time the others are getting. He is having the best offensive season by a Red Wing since Federov won the Hart Trophy in the 90's. He has established himself as possibly the best two way player in the game. He can score with the best of them and plays solid defense. His line is ofeten on the ice against opponents top scoring line.

The wings are hardly deep. They have one great offensive line, a decent offensive line, and after that there is virtually 0 scoring. I'd contend that the Red Wings can and do give Zetterberg as much icetime as Crosby, if not more, since Crosby and Malkin now often play on different lines. Vinny probably gets the most though, I mean there is Richards, but even the first line has a no name on it.

I never said they were loaded with 50 goal scorers. I said they regularly roll 4 lines. They have shown their depth this year while guys like Maltby and Drapper have missed games for extended periods and Zetterberg and Holmstrom have also missed some time. They continue to get contributions from everywhere. That's what depth is. In todays salary cap league we will never see teams like the 80's Oilers or even the 2002 Wings.

    • Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.
    • Day 73: just some mirror work today. Working on feels for being open and getting the front shoulder down.
    • I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.
    • Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.
    • Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
