CBS (Are you reading this Mr. CBS producer guy?). That ball flight tracker is cool. Use it more often! And don't just use it on good shots. Show us the wayward shots. Like Imada's on the par 3 on the back nine that went wayyy right and short. Or on one of Tiger's super low stingers.

Your viewing audience has spoken. 'nuff said.

I agree. I really liked seeing the ball flight with the tracker. I like this better than the one the Golf Channel uses on the greens. I like the one for putts but wish they would show it, and then take it off while the ball is on the way to the hole. But the one CBS used tis weekend was very cool.

I thought it was cool too - all replays should be done with that thing...though I might have to disagree with you on the putt tracker they have - have you noticed the amount of putts they show that are dead straight?!? I would only show that putt tracker when theres plenty of break in the putt :)

The technology they are employing is incredible. I was very impressed by the ball tracker.

I think the next innovation should be a real-time putt surface visualization. Something where they can lay a grid over the green just before the player putts and show the true projected roll of the putt. No clue how'd they do such a thing. But then again, I never thought they'd be able to pull off a ball tracker either, so....

Seeing the ball flight really lets you appreciate the skill that goes into a shot. Seeing Phil hit a draw to hold against the wind and sticking his shot just reminds me that these guys are playing a different game.

Yep thought it was pretty darn cool...I like the how they provide the swing stats too through the launch monitor stuff. How they compare the pros to themselves can be pretty funny...especially Faldo.

Another suggestion is to mike up the sound so you can really hear the contact, the whistle of the ball and the landing.

The ball tracker reminds me of the first down line they started using during football games. I think it just makes it more enjoyable to watch...

The ball flight tracker really gives you an appreciation for the shots they are hitting. I also agree that I would love to see it on a Tiger Stinger shot or on a Daly watch out right shot.

Did anyone see the one of Tiger trying to draw the ball into the wind, on the par three? When he hit the ball, it started to draw but than the wind pushed the ball way right and the ball flight formed an "S" curve. Really cool to see with the ball flight tracker.

Going against the grain here. I found the flight looked bizare in the camera angles that they were shown in(they were hitting a 3 iron off the par three and looked like they were hitting a pitching wedge). If they could work with the angle of the camera to give a better perspective. It would be nice to have the camera directly behind the golfer and looking down the line of the shot instead of off to the side(this would give a better perspective on the shape of the shot) also if they could get the blimp to provide the angle that could be cool. Maybe show more than one guy at the same time to get an idea of the different shot types(fader vs drawer).

I'm sure the scientist who developed this technology for missiles is laughing at us silly golfers, but yes, I do like the TV application!

I love the shot tracker and swing vision, and the putter line is good with the exception of one thing. I think they need to not show it when the putt matters as far as the leaders go. It takes the suspense away. Its interesting to see just how much some of these putts break, but would it have been as dramtic if Tiger had made that huge double bender at Sawgrass if you had known the exact line of the putt? It is an excellent tool, but I think they need to use it with caution.

CBS has made some really good innovations in Golf telecasts over the years. I really enjoy the swing vision and this ball flight tracker is really cool too. I also like Jim Nantz and the rest of the crew, except for McCord (I didn't know how annoying just one person could be until I heard him).

    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.

    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
    • Have you looked at Model Local Rule F-9 Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway?  You could extend this to cover exposed rocks.  The rule is recommended to be used only for areas relatively near the fairway, a player who hits a shot 20 yards in the woods doesn't really deserve relief.   Players can always take Unplayable Ball relief, they're not required to play it from a rock or a root.  Of course, they hate to take the penalty stroke too.
