Cycles of Greatness on the PGA Tour Poster

Chart the PGA Tour's big names from 1916 to 2004 with this heavy-duty poster from HistoryShots.com.
I consider myself a fan of the history of the PGA Tour. Though I wasn't around to see Slammin' Sammy Snead, The Wee Ice Mon Ben Hogan, Arnie Palmer and his Army, or even Fat Jack Nicklaus in their primes, that does not mean that I cannot appreciate what they accomplished.
I'm also a fan of statistics, charts, and graphs. The image to the right was taken from a larger poster at HistoryShots.com. It adds fuel to the fire that Tiger Woods is the best golfer ever by comparing his winning percentage (24%) to Hogan's (22%), Nicklaus' (16%), Palmer's (13%), Watson's, Casper's, and Player's (12%, 11%, and 7% respectively).
That chart is part of a larger poster which contains a spreadsheet-like section on the top listing the major winners in various eras from 1916 through 2004. The left side contains a list of PGA Tour victories. The bottom contains charts showing the most wins per year with averages by era (Byron Nelson's 18 wins in 1945 helped bump the 1936-1955 average to 7.4 wins/season). Other information, like Vardon Trophy and Money Leader winners and the career earnings sit along the bottom.
The main area of the large, 24" x 36" graph, charts the number of wins by players. Hagen, Sarazen, Snead, Hogan, Nelson, Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson, and Woods are featured prominently in bold colors, but other standouts like Tommy Armour, Paul Runyan, Tommy Bolt, Johnny Miller, Lanny Wadkins, and Vijay Singh find their place on the chart as well in muted tan tones.
The chart, suitable for framing and hanging in a game room, den, or office is made of very thick stock paper. It's flat, making for easy no-glare reading, and the typeface is clear. It's easy to comprehend the chart and makes for a great conversation piece.
Perhaps the only negative is that the last year on the chart is 2004. That leaves six or more PGA Tour victories (and two majors) from one Mr. Woods off the chart.
16" x 20" Budweiser posters run $9.99 at Spencer's Gifts, making this 24" x 36", heavy-duty poster a good buy at at $29.95. If you're a stats freak like me (or Dave), it's a steal.
