Titleist Debuts Revamped News Site with RSS
Posted September 14th, 2005 by Erik J. Barzeski
Titleist today introduces a brand new "News" section of their site with several RSS feeds to keep users apprised of the latest.
Titleist today unveiled a new, content-rich news site and several (and we do mean several) RSS feeds to deliver information directly and immediately to customers (and without worry of spam, updating email accounts, etc.).
The new Titleist News site contains feeds for equipment categories and company news as well as other features like Ernie Els' "On the Road with Ernie," "Lessons from the Pros," and "A Quick 9."
Perhaps the most interesting category is the "Traditions and Technology" section which contains articles like this one, an interview with Acushnet CEO Wally Uihlein. In it, Uihlein makes a case for fact-based analysis of today's game over emotion-ridden "the game is in ruins because the ball goes too far" hype.
Said Director of Communications Joe Gomes:
The titleist.com RSS News Feed is an extension of our commitment to provide the content and information golfers seek and expect from the Titleist brand. The redesign of the News section on our web site, in combination with the opportunity for consumers to subscribe to the RSS Feeds, is an important factor in delivering timely and accurate updates on Titleist products, tour player information, educational initiatives and breaking news when it happens
Along with TMaGInsider, the TaylorMade/Adidas/Maxfli site, Titleist's efforts with RSS are some of the industry's first. RSS and content syndication has grown substantially since its introduction less than five years ago. The Sand Trap .com also offers an RSS feed - just look to the right-hand column for "Syndicated Feeds" and subscribe in either RSS or Atom format.
If you're looking for a news reader, I recommend two heartily: PulpFiction for Mac OS X and FeedDemon for Windows.
